Song + dance. What history of “Dance of little ducklings“?

This dance were known practically by all Soviet children of 1980 - x years. He long time was an invariable favourite on kindergarten morning performances and in summer camps. Abroad children were not lagged behind also by adults. It is difficult to believe, but execution of “Dance of little ducklings“ - invariable attribute of the beer holiday “Oktoberfest“ where it would not take place - in Munich or Oklahoma.

And everything began with a cheerful simple song which many still consider by origin national French or national Austrian...

Actually it has an author - the Swiss accordion player Thomas Verner. He composed a melody of future hit in 1957 - here only a hit it became far not at once. In 1963 Verner thought up amusing “Der Ententanz“ (“Duck Dance“) for the performances. But neither the text, nor a plate was yet.

Verner just sang the songs on local pubs until at the end of 1973 he was noticed by the Belgian producer Louis Dzhuliyen Van Ridzhmenant who arrived to Switzerland to go skiing. He made sintezatorny processing of a melody of Verner, called it of “Tchip Tchip“ and published a single under the name of CASH & CARRY group.

The song made success in Belgium and Switzerland and slowly began to creep away on the world. For example, in 1974 it was delivered from Germany to the American state of Ohio and twisted on local radio.

In 1980 the Dutch group DE ELECTRONICA wrote down the tool version of a song of Verner, having christened its “De Vogeltjesdans“ (“Dance of little birds“). Though musicians placed composition on the second party of a single, di - Jay preferred to twist it. As a result the song got on 6 - e the place Dutch a hit - parade, and in 1981 headed charts of Germany.

Certainly, the German-language version of Frank Zander under the name of FRED ZONNENSHEYN AND ITS FRIENDS right there appeared. In this option the song carried the name “Ja, wenn wir alle Englein waren“ (“If all of us were angels“) and had the cheerful, but not so children`s text - about a booze and women. Having learned about it, I, at last, understood why Germans consider it table.

From this point all as though broke through. The song began to be rehashed and translated into the most various languages actively. They say that in the world exists about the 370th its cover - versions in 42 countries. It is no wonder that the author of the song - Thomas Verner - felt like the person, “won in a lottery“.

For our country (at that time madly in love with the Italian platform) the main reference point became italoyazychny option. And all thanks to Al Bano and Romina Power`s popular duet which executed it in 1981. Performed by Romina the song began to be called of “Il Ballo Del Qua Qua“ (“Dance of KVA - KVA“ - as you can see, ducklings at Italians “croak“). It entered an album of 1982 of “Aria Pura“ (“Clean air“) which also included well-known “Felicita“ and was republished in the USSR.

Romina Power: I found

of “Felicita“ a little childish. About “Il ballo del qua qua“ we do not speak at all … however it was my greatest success!

Summer of 1981 we were in Seville, within our tours in Spain. Group of girls in Andalusian suits stopped dancing sevilyanas. I admired their bearing, elegance of movements, pride of movements. Music changed, di - Jay put a plate with a tune which, appear, had effect of a magic pipe. On the crowded dance floor these beautiful girls, such classical and smelling of Spain, begin to execute a series of mad movements.

“What the hell they it get up there? - I speak to Albano. - Look, same it is ridiculous!“ Least of all I then could present to

that there will pass only several months, and this idiotic song will be sung by me, showing these ridiculous movements to which millions of people will imitate. It was the Dutch melody which in the different countries was executed by different singers, and everywhere they were waited by the stunning success. When it to me was offered, I refused at once.

“Listen and if to execute it, thinking of children, it will turn out very lovely … Well, let`s clean this movement by “wings“, it the silliest of all … It is a little irony and fat gooses in the company …“

In two days I flew up on the first places in a hit - parades“.

in the middle of 1980 - x Al Bano and Romina Power even arrived to the Soviet Union where acted in the musical movie “Magic White Night“. There “Il Ballo Del Qua Qua“ executed a duet directly on Nevsky Avenue.

The song together with dance right there scattered on the Union. Urgently the Russian-speaking option was necessary. It was written by the famous master of a children`s song Yury Entin, and it until now is initial:

On the walking ducklings

want to be similar,

to be similar want,

Not for nothing, not for nothing.

It is possible to shake off a tail,

I to start on a long journey,

I to start on a long journey, Creech`s

“krya - krya“...

And the nature is good,

I weather is good, there is no

, the soul,

Not for nothing, not for nothing not for nothing sings.

Even a fat hippopotamus,

the Clumsy hippopotamus

does not lag behind ducklings,

Groans “krya - krya“...

the versions Appeared and Anglo-Saxons have a truth, tool. For Great Britain the song was processed in 1981 by Henry Hedevey, and the THE TWEETS group spread. In their execution “The Birdie Song“ (“the Song of Birdies“), occupied in English a hit - parade 2 - e the place.

For the USA the same role was played by Bob Keyms. Here only the place of “ducklings“ at it was taken by “hens“, and the melody, respectively, was called of “Chicken Dance“ (“Chicken Dance“).

They say that “Oktoberfest“ passing in 1981 in Oklahoma was fault of this transformation. The European song about ducklings was already familiar to local farmers, and they wanted to arrange fancy-dress dance. Here only duck suits were not in granaries and it was necessary to put on chicken...

Bob Keyms about the song:

“This silly small thing, and very infectious. It has only two chords which do not change. This melody as if the implant in a brain of people, sticks very strongly“.

Such popularity always has a reverse side. For example, in 2000, on poll of the website dotmusic, “Chicken Dance“ headed the list of “the most irritating songs of all times“. Not without reason on November 13, 2009 the station “CIHT - FM“ carried out a peculiar charity event - broadcast this song without interruption until the necessary sum for Children`s hospital East Ontario was not collected.

Therefore it is no wonder that I did not see any more very long ago that somewhere danced “Dance of little ducklings“. But still I remember its choreography not bad.

Under each of four lines of a couplet the simple movement which purpose to represent a birdie was executed.

1. We raise the bent hands to shoulders and quickly we squeeze and we unclench fingers. It - “klyuvik».

2. Without changing position of hands, we wave elbows. These are “wings“.

3. We squat, twirling at the same time... well, so to say, “tail“.

4. We rise and clap.

As for a lingering refrain then it is necessary to be turned - or to one, or with the partner, or having formed a round dance of all participants. At the same time with each new line of a refrain the direction of rotation should be changed for opposite.

Though dance - is no place more simply, a song quite fast. Therefore it is not so simple to fit into a rhythm. Right now I will get up and I will check whether elderly “goose“ can become “a little duckling“...
