Classicism. The imperial Classics style

is always “not for all“. Classicism (one of the main classical directions in architecture and design, along with the Renaissance, baroque, rococo and an empire style) - not an exception. In this style theaters were under construction and royal residences, but never - habitats of “the third estate“ got off.

At classicism rich history. Having appeared in Europe three centuries ago, it became natural continuation of idea of the Renaissance - revival of the traditions of antiquity which are almost forgotten during an era of “the dark Middle Ages“.

Classical style in each of the countries had the unique lines. For example, the French classicism is distinguished, on the one hand, by impressiveness, splendor, aspiration to decorative gloss of interiors, with another - composite symmetry, orderliness and geometrical severity in planning. And here the English classical style is drier. Measured tenor of life of the British aristocrats could not but influence its development. Such, reserved, cold forms in architecture and interiors are most of all close to them...

Classicism had to the yard and in Russia. And so that, having appeared in the first half of the 18th century, it remained predominating throughout century. Domestic examples of this classical style are distinguished by a combination of quiet, rectangular shapes to the various decorative registration full of advantage and harmony.

many buildings in St. Petersburg Are that

. However, and the province tried not to lag behind the capital. Architecture of the Russian estate - all this the same accurate geometrical forms, clarity of composite construction and delicate art taste. Strict symmetry of palaces and mansions is characteristic: the dominating main case on which both parties are located a wing. The facade of the main case is decorated with columns, marble ladders, a stucco molding and frequent a sculpture. The estate was surely surrounded with park or a garden with direct avenues, equal lawns and again - a sculpture.

Steadiness and proportionality

it is unconditional, today it is quite difficult to create interiors of imperial residences in the modern apartment or the country dwelling. However it is also not required. It is important to catch characteristic features of classical style, namely - harmony, nobility, simplicity and a harmony and to try to enter them in reality of the 21st century.

If you have

no desire to cardinally “remake“ the image of the dwelling, but there is a need for “classics“, then it is enough to make eaves on a ceiling or walls, and to issue doorways and book shelves in the form of arches that the “classical“ atmosphere became an integral part of your house.

Tree, silk, gilding...

the Reserved decor and expensive qualitative materials (a natural tree, a stone, silk) - here business cards of classical style. And, it concerns not only finishings, but also furniture, fine details, color registration of an interior. Cherry, the Karelian birch, a nut or mahogany - classical furniture from these breeds of wood reliable and noble, refined, but not elaborate.

its form “imitates“ all interior - it strict, clear and logical. Furniture legs strictly direct - it emphasizes their function oporno - the bearing designs. They something are similar to columns which are narrowed to a bottom.

the Furniture of classicism is decorated by meanders, flower or laurel garlands, sockets, scallops - antique motives are recognized here as anywhere. Usually classical furniture is covered with a white or green varnish, inlaid again - with valuable breeds of a tree (for example, a lemon, satin or pink tree) or the mosaic which is laid out manually from different wood, is decorated with brass or the patinated mirror.

For a classical interior will be suitable easy chairs with the openwork, upholstered or wattled backs oval, round or squared. Chairs and a canape can be upholstered with fabrics with a flower ornament. Strictly symmetric sideboard representing a combination of buffet and a dumbwaiter will perfectly fit into the dining room. As for cabinet furniture, especially it is worth paying attention to two - three-storied clothes and bookcases at which the lower tiers have several boxes or two doors in the middle and boxes on the parties. There will be to the place in a classical interior and already almost forgotten dressers, bureau, folding tables, secretaries.

Many pieces of house utensils in style classicism can be got in antiquarian salons. Depending on some, not really significant differences characteristic of classical furniture of the different countries, its objects are called or in the French style - a la Louis Seize (in Louis XVI`s style), or into English - Regency Style (in style of an era of the Regency). However, details of a classical interior can be got also in modern furniture supermarkets. Because interest in classical furniture constantly grows, designers of solid furniture firms look for in the museums or at auctions sketches of ancient furniture today and recreate once lost samples of house utensils on their basis. Such “reproductive“ classics does not look the copy and “remake“, and fitting into the corresponding interior, it seems the antiquarian original and moreover - a work of art which is bought for a long time and is descended.

Paying much attention to furniture, it is impossible to forget also about other important details of a classical interior - about doors and windows: they directly participate in its formation. They also have to be executed from a natural tree - only it will provide a plain surface, extreme accuracy of the sizes and high quality in general. In an interior everything is interconnected therefore the window and door invoice has to be in harmony successfully with furniture, finishing of walls and a parquet.

of Antiquarian salons in Moscow great variety. However it is better to visit them not alone, and accompanied by the authorized representative - the architect or the designer. The matter is that the exposed goods, as a rule, rare, and the difference between its value and the price (that not same) is always rather conditional. Not to do without professional.

the Art parquet

the Classical interior gravitates to an art parquet (and vice versa): inlaid, filigree executed, decorated by borders and sockets. The socket - one of the main elements of an art parquet. It is known that the famous architect Karl Rossi at construction of the Mikhailovsky Palace in St. Petersburg (one more monument of classicism) independently did sketches of sockets of a palace parquet. Use of this element - quite widespread way of harmonization of an esthetics of a floor with the general style of the room. It is possible to coordinate space with its help, having coordinated a floor to a ceiling plafond or a plaster stucco molding.

the Parquet in style of classicism is distinguished by severe geometricity. It can be laid out by continuous checkers, circles, squares or polygons. But - any floridity, only simple lines, pure contours, the correct geometrical forms and strict symmetry. As it is told in a presentation photo album of one well-known parquet company, “the design on the basis of straight lines “is consecrated“ with tradition“. It is difficult not to agree with it.

the Stucco molding

One more major element of classical style - a stucco molding. Eaves, laid on panels for walls, ceiling sockets, platbands for doors and windows, a wall decor, niches, lamps, pediments, columns, pilasters and sandrik - classicism demands abundance of these sculptural and architectural details.

Knows that traditional material for a stucco molding - plaster. And it is not casual. Several centuries ago its unique property was revealed: stiffening, it increases in volume. When casting forms this property allows plaster to get into the smallest deepenings in a relief, and therefore it is possible to achieve study even of the most fine details. Besides is a strong material. For example, columns from well reinforced plaster can byl even bearing.

the Colour scheme of a classical interior - a separate subject. Classicism gravitates to quiet noble tones, to a combination of light pastel flowers, such as - cream, is pale - yellow, is pale - pink, light-green, light-blue, lilac. Choosing portieres and curtains for windows, it is necessary to consider that their colors were in harmony not only with a drapery of walls, but also with the invoice of a floor, furniture and accessories.

not necessarily have to be

of the Detail of an interior from a stucco molding white. They can be painted any paint, giving them a type of a stone, marble, a tree and metal.

the Bathroom in a classical interior is made out by marble of warm shades of beige color - this material gives it very solemn air. Also other rooms in the apartment or the house get off with noble marble.

the Drapery and masking

of the Classic classics - but the modern housing should not is simple

and cannot remind the historical museum. But how to combine, for example, refinement of classical interiors with utility of modern household appliances? In this case it is necessary to use the help of designers and architects. Only experience of the competent expert will not allow to fall into the indecent eclecticism capable to destroy the general style of rooms.

exists Now the set of models of furniture which on the one hand keep classical severity, with another - are allocated with all modern properties. It is easy to insert the sliding block for the TV or the videorecorder into it, boxes for business folders and laser disks. Sometimes the equipment “hides“ the designer in a special niche in a wall. All these design finds allow to reach harmony of classicism with modern requirements of comfort and a cosiness in the house.
