Feeding by a breast - the first meeting of mother and child of

Success of breastfeeding of the baby substantially depends because as there is his first contact with mother. Now in many maternity hospitals early applying of the newborn to a breast takes root more and more widely that has a number of advantages to mother and for the child. Professor I. A. Arshavsky still in 30 - e convincingly showed years need of the earliest applying of the newborn to mother`s breast. According to its laboratory, “it is enough of four - three - and even a two-day delay of the beginning of feeding by mother`s breast that even physiologically mature newborns gained lines of physiological immaturity“. Early applying to a breast has paramount importance for the child. The average amount of the colostrum arriving to the child is small and makes about 2 ml. Nevertheless, even this amount of colostrum plays an important role in formation of immunity and decrease in incidence of newborns, is an important point of stimulation of a lactation and ensuring its success and duration. At last, there are convincing confirmations of a role of early applying in primary adaptation of the newborn and induction of psychological communication - attachments of mother and the child.

Special supervision showed that if childbirth took place normally, mother and the child feel well, then it is the best of all to carry out the first feeding of the baby by a breast within 20 - 30 minutes after the birth. It is noted that at once after normal childbirth at the child approximate and sosatelny reflexes are most expressed. At this time he usually does not sleep, is rather active and ready to suck a breast. Practice of applying of the child to mother`s breast at once after the birth provides more favorable course of postnatal process at mother, and also quiet behavior and the best development of the child.

As it occurs at animals

In fauna the first meeting between mother and her posterity is controlled by a series of biologically programmed instincts and reflexes specific to each species. Soon after the birth the newborn foal tries to get on feet to get the upright mother. Already standing on shaky legs, he begins to stick softly with a muzzle to a mare into a stomach, trying to find a nipple. Pigs usually soon after the birth find a way to nipples of a sow and begin to suck. The pig so sharply aspires to a nipple that he on the way tears off the umbilical cord. During the first hours pigs suck lives independently from each other. However further process of food is coordinated. When the pig gives the special grunting signal, pigs begin to mass each ““ nipple, and the sow continues to grunt with the increasing frequency. When the frequency of its signals reaches 1 in a second, pigs begin to suck each ““ nipple. Before milk begins to arrive, pigs suck with a small speed. When milk then is emitted, sucking happens with greater speed. Release of milk from nipples of a pig continues only 20 - 30 seconds - this inventive mechanism the Nature forces young growth to be on the place in that short period while milk is emitted, thereby, providing a milk reserve for all pigs. When pigs already stopped sucking, they begin to mass a sow udder again. It is considered that this “post-massage“ they milk individual the order on certain quantity on the following feeding.

That conducts the newborn to mother`s breast, is definitely not known, but it is possible to assume that a part is played by tactile feeling of the baby. Possibly, sense of smell and sight are for this purpose also important. Experiments on rats allow to believe that this is true. If the nipple of a rat is washed at once after the delivery, chances of a newborn infant rat to find a nipple and to begin to suck decrease. If then to grease a nipple with washing water, then at some infant rats ability to find a nipple is restored. It is interesting to note that at the types born sighted people, cubs probably not so depend on smells, as at a rat. At her cubs eyes are at first closed.

It is frequent in order that mother accepted a cub, their joint stay during the first hours after the birth is vital. So, in several hours after the delivery the sheep has an impriting on a smell of her lamb. Other research showed that the goat does not accept the cubs repeatedly if they were separated from her after the delivery. whether

Happens so at people

If to place the healthy newborn right after the birth on mother`s breast with direct skin contact (skin to skin) and not to disturb it, then he will show the predictable behavior which is that by the end of the first hour of life it will independently find a maternal nipple and will begin to suck. After shout at the time of the birth the child usually lies quietly, weakened and pale, without any movements by a mouth and claim movements. After a while the child becomes active, tries to open eyes, and then squeezes cams, a bit later, and bends hands. At the age of about 30 minutes it thrusts a hand into a mouth that, probably, stimulates increase in movements with a mouth. The search reflex which was not observed, appears in the beginning successfully increases and reaches a maximum along with increase in movements by a mouth when the child creeps up to a nipple, at last, to suck.

Sometimes at this time the child tries to reject the head back and to look for a face and mother`s eyes. Perhaps, the voice of mother induces the child to look at her. The child learns a maternal voice since the pre-natal period and, apparently, now associates a face of mother with already familiar voice. The first meeting with mother is constructed on recognition. The situation for the child - a familiar sound - is equivalent safety guarantees.

Some authors deny existence at the person of the sensitive periods, similar to that at animals. However, many researches indicate that people during the first hours after the birth have a sensitive period too. Among other things, it is established that if mother with the child after the delivery were not separated and they had a tactile contact, the period of breastfeeding will be longer and mother will show more devotion to the child.

Krom of contact “skin to skin“, the child`s touch to a nipple right after the birth probably also accelerates emergence of emotional connection of mother with the child. Group of mothers whose children could suck a breast the first 30 minutes after the birth, talked to children more and left children alone for the time spent in postnatal office less in comparison with group of mothers whose children were attached to a breast on average in 8 and more hours after the delivery. Hormonal level at mothers with early applying to a breast also confirmed that they felt quieter and healthy with the children in connection with breastfeeding.

Thus, results of these last researches confirm opinion that even people have an early binding period. Just as cubs of animals, the child has the biological program leading to search of a maternal nipple and sucking while mother is most sensitive to the child`s touch to a nipple and sucking, it is actually so sensitive that she at an early stage finds the behavior which was more betrayed in relation to the child.

However, it is necessary to remember that this early binding period during the first hours after the birth is not the only thing during which mother becomes attached to the baby. As the early sensitive period exists, we have to provide a possibility of close contact of mother and child at this time. If on medical indications they cannot be together during the first hours after the delivery, there are many other ways for mother to become attached to the child.

needs to emphasize

that Prolactinum (“molokoobrazuyushchy“ hormone) is emitted with a hypophysis then when the child sucks. Thanks to it new intake of milk is prepared already during feeding, and in 2 hours after about 70 - 75% of the milk exhausted by the child is restored for the following feeding. Thus, the more often the child sucks, the milk is produced more.

Should pay also attention that Prolactinum stops maturing and office of an ovum in ovaries and for this reason feeding by a breast - the contraceptive, most widespread in the world.
