How fought in Evropakh? Not on fists, and a cane!the Cane - not an improvised subject, and quite to the independent weapon for self-defense. That is first of all it is a household subject for a support when walking or a fashionable accessory. But at the same time canes initially were considered from the point of view of fighting application. Not so much for attack (for this purpose there were various blades), how many for self-defense. At that time many canes were made by
taking into account this opportunity. Weightings; knobs - “maces“ and “fighting“ handles of other forms; hidden blades... And the main thing, existing everywhere technology of fight by a cane. Somewhere the independent, somewhere adapted under a stick technicians of a blade. And here the most interesting begins!
, It seems, a cane - a subject simple and as to apply it in a fight, obviously. Beat with the basic end. Or a handle, will be so stronger. Having grabbed by both ends, substitute under others blows. It is possible by means of a cane and to strangle the forward. And to execute painful reception though it already demands special ability. It is necessary only to perfect skill of application of similar “by itself obvious“, natural methods.
There is other way. It is not so much natural to take as a basis - obvious national methods, how many the developed military art. Usually (as well as has to be) much more effective, but also more difficult.
In principle, it concerns the martial arts (MA) in general. Simply among systems of fight the excellent illustration of these two approaches is a cane, in my opinion: French and Irish schools. Of course, now they differ from initial prototypes. Something was reconstructed, a lot of things evolved (that in general is peculiar to the European BI). And something, and a lot of things, kept and recreated intentionally as tradition.
It is considered that the French school of a cane comes from technology of fight rubyashche - the pricking sword. I would add: and saber. In the Network the mass of video of those and other systems, and at desire are far simpler to look, than long and confusedly to describe. Uncountable loops and rotations of the French cane are peculiar rather old (not present sports) to technicians of a saber, than the cutting sword. Anyway, an origin from bladed the technician obviously. From here both complexity, and variety technician. Emphasis on fencing, on a long range. Difficult multitempo attacks, specific positions and movements, in details built training technique - fencing is traced everywhere.
The French equipment is very stylized. And it, apparently, too in tradition. And fencing on swords strove for refinement and refinement of equipment there. Yes in the Network there are records of an old savat, the French boxing. Look, it is visible also there!
Though all essence and base of modern system goes from old fencing, earlier it was simpler. I did not see in old grants of so difficult, almost acrobatic movements. The system in many respects kept applied, self-defensive sense! Though at current sports “jumps“ base fencing. But it seems, the “French“ idea “more beautiful“ is too strong to make!
Also you will not see it in less known the Irish fight by a cane . It impresses not with an underlined esthetics, but simplicity and clearness. Adjustedness here especially applied, focused on fight practice. And it is rather a fight by a cane, but not fencing. The difference is that here much more work at average and even near distance, than on distant. The cane is often held with two hands, “as a pole“.
Of course, the purpose of any BI - to finish fight quicker. The Irish fight by a cane, judging by a manner, accurately is focused on it, having kept an applied orientation. It is not sport or art as the French style. It for fight. Even, judging by a manner, for a fight. It is easy to present the Irish, near a pub of the sorting-out relations with the drinking companion! So turn, having been selected and having raised hands on - boxing. Only the clever boxing game is not played, seeking to bring down the opponent one - two powerful blows. And now the same, having in hands thick, even knotty, a cane. Not graceful (at least externally) stylish, walking. Rather processed and polished bough. It is, of course, not the cudgel also perfectly is operated with one hand, but nevertheless does not dispose to graceful fencing! And for self-defense I personally would advise to study such style: extremely simple, obvious, rigid. Aggressive. Disposing rather to the attacking tactics, in t. h to fast attack on rapprochement.
In the French style it is too. Especially in old technicians, and nowadays - in the applied section. But also there everything is far more graceful.
And the basic in the French la canne - nevertheless fencing. Conducting fight, active game by levels and distances. But where in the Irish style seek for rapprochement, in the French manner “play“ rather on distant / average distances. Its important line - an opportunity not only to beat the opponent, and to conduct a battle, conditional “dialogue“ with the opponent. In practice - without striking seriously, to control the opponent, to force to stop aggression. This art literally which was beyond applied.
The Irish manner hardly disposes to it. It is rather to somewhat quicker to beat out not only desire, and an opportunity to attack. And this art! Fighting, kept an initial orientation and not gained decorative effect.
Probably, such is national spirit!
By the way, it is BI it is rather reconstructed, recreated. And it is very successful. The spirit of the people is reflected in national BI. And both systems reflect this spirit fully. I think, it they also are valuable.
