The museum - an old times remnant? No, memory treasury! The past can study
As mankind? Generally according to books, on lectures and lessons of history. But there is one more fine evident opportunity - it is the museums. In them century, and even thousand-year artifacts of a human civilization are concentrated.
In 1977 in Moscow there took place the XI conference of the International council of the museums. And on it the International Day of the museums which is celebrated on May 18 was founded.
The museum in translation from Greek means “the temple of muses“. The museums in the form of private collections exist long ago. One of the most ancient and large museums “Museyon“ was in Alexandria, it was created by the Egyptian governor Ptolemaeus at the suggestion of the philosopher Demetriya Falersky.
The majority of the museums was in hands of private or state persons. And only the narrow intimate circle of people could admire all these remarkable creations which are in private collections. Only after the French revolution of 1789 and October revolution of 1917 the museums acquired the public status and became available without any restrictions to a general population.
One of the largest and known museums of the world - Louvre. As the museum it was open in 1793. Louvre not only the greatest museum, but also the most expensive on meeting of exhibits. One picture “Mona Lisa“ of Leonardo da Vinci can eclipse many exhibits. Any expert does not undertake to determine even its approximate cost. Also the three of the largest museums of the world includes a museum complex of Vatican and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
In the museum it is possible to adjoin to bygone eras. When you look at an ancient Roman coin, you imagine that the emperor Augustus or Christ could hold this coin in hand. Time in the museum contracts, the person for a while plunges into the atmosphere of the mysterious ancient world. By the left times people also love the museums for such concerning touch moments. In general, it is useful for modern person to get out sometimes of the virtual world of the Internet and to wander about the real museums.
The first Russian Museum - Cabinet of curiosities. On own initiative and with the direct participation this museum was founded by Pyotr the First in 1714 in St. Petersburg. The payment for its visit was not raised - even on the contrary, visitors were attracted with alcohol and snack. The museum as a result of such gastronomic “promotion“ was never empty. In modern Russia there are about 2 700 state museums (there were 500 hundred years ago), approximately as much private. Very first and large of them - the Russian national Museum founded in 1993 in Moscow.
The majority of the museums are huge both by the sizes, and by quantity and value of exhibits. But in the world exist also small, but very curious. In Athens the doctor created the Museum of motherhood. In Brussels there is a museum of the second bread - potatoes. To favourite dish of Italians - spaghetti - is devoted the museum in the town of Pontedassio (about Genoa). In the small Hungarian town Kalochi there is the only Museum of pepper in the world. The tasty Museum of chocolate is located in Cologne. In Kaunas there is the only Museum of devils in the world. In the Czech city of Plzena founded the museum to the drink loved by much - beer.
In Russia there is a set of the interesting remarkable museums too. In Uglich the museum “History of the Russian Vodka“ is created. Yaroslavl is famous not only ancient temples, but also the museum “Music and Time“ with a collection of an old watch, and also the museum of the Tale of Igor`s Campaign. In Nizhny Novgorod the museum is devoted to the Russian samovars. In St. Petersburg it is possible to visit not only the Hermitage, but also the Museum of a sensuality. The museum of a bee is organized in the settlement of Sangdowo of the Tver region. There is a set of the museums devoted to a remarkable product - to bread. The first-ever similar museum is open in 1955 in the German city of Ulm. In Russia the first Museum of bread is created in St. Petersburg in 1988.
Recently the international campaign “Night of the museums“ gathers great popularity. For the first time the similar act was carried out in 1997 in Berlin. Now this good idea is supported by several thousands of the museums worldwide. Moscow followed this example in 2007.
As spoke ancient, “art is long, life is short“. Here to imprint the moments of this transient human life, and the museums are created. How many there will be Homo sapiens, also the museums, these treasuries of human memory, progress and culture will function as much.
We congratulate all employees who, having crossed a threshold of the Temple of muses, devoted the life to service to a wonderful world of creations of the person and the nature, congratulations! Thanks to tireless, often to a labor of love of museum workers millions of people can admire masterpieces of heritage of last times.
