Long time psychologists and representatives of social sciences studied leadership, including political, and the related phenomenon of charisma. Max Weber in 1940 investigated this concept. And today it draws attention of psychologists who are interested in organizational leadership.
Charismatic leadership is an ability to force ordinary people to arrive extraordinary in an extreme situation. Charisma in translation from Greek means “the gift given from above“ or “charisma“. Very seriously this question was discussed both in literature, and in psychology. Experts tried to find out how charisma is connected with traits of character of the specific personality.
It became clear that leaders from not leaders are distinguished by multiple lines: commitment, ambition, energy, persistence, an initiative, honesty and frankness, self-confidence, ability to order and interpret a large number of various information, knowledge of business. But, to be the effective leader, it is necessary to possess the whole list of the above-stated fig.
Most of experts agree that charisma should be considered as interaction or special type of the relations between the leader and followers. Charisma is a peculiar reaction of followers who are caused by characteristics of the identity of the leader and his behavior to some concrete situation.
There are several theories of charismatic leadership, each of which has the conditions, offers the data of researches. The theory of charismatic leadership of the House, the theory of attribution of Konger and Kanungo, the theory I - Shamir`s concepts concern to them. At the same time practically all from them treat charismatic leadership as to idealization process.
The behavior of the charismatic leader assumes first of all management of impression. The leader acts specially so that to make impression about the competence at the followers, and the impression it not necessarily has positive character. It is expressed in such forms of behavior as conversation on last progress, manifestation of self-confidence and underestimation of value of failures, representation of a positive personal example.
Lines of the charismatic leader include strong need for the power, high self-confidence, conviction for own representations. Hardly without these lines the real charismatic personality will appear.
Often charismatic leaders use the nonconventional methods of realization of the vision leading to success. After use of such methods attribute to the leader exclusive skill and abilities. Also leaders are able to risk not only the reputation, but also situation in the organization. In general, charismatic leaders are people extraordinary, morally steady, it is moral strong.
