Why the settlement of the Gomel region is called “the RED COAST“?the Beautiful original name of the settlement “Red coast“ are known since the 14th century. Red - beautiful means! This settlement was located at the beautiful river bank of Dobosn in Zhlobinsky district. Here the monument dvortsovo - park architecture of the II half of the 19th century remained. Dvortsovo - park ensemble settled down in small cozy park which twisting paths bring to the river.
On one of the weekend I came to Red Coast stations, got on the bicycle and went to the settlement on the road which is laid out by big plates. I came here to see an ancient castle, one of small cozy locks what there is a lot of in Belarus. In this settlement many years stood not well-groomed and constantly the estate - the palace collapsed. Different people owned this estate.
In 80 - x years the manor was got by the general - the lieutenant Gatovsky. Later he presented a manor on a wedding of the daughter Maria as a dowry. The daughter`s husband Vikenti Alfonsovich Kozell - Poklevsky was engaged in a manor with all love. He was fascinated by the estate on the river bank of Dobosna. For construction of the palace the famous European architect E. Schroter was invited. For arrangement of park invited the chief gardener of Warsaw Frantisek Shanior. The palace was built in 1890 - 1893. Each hall of the palace differed from each other in style. Near the estate constructed a wing - a lodge for servants which was also beautiful, as well as the palace. The palace - the estate surrounded park and a garden with twisting walking paths which conducted to the river bank of Dobosna.
During World War II in the settlement the German hospital, and then Red Army hospital had. That is why dvortsovo - the park ensemble was not destroyed. Now the estate is a monument of architecture of the 19th century and is taken under protection of the state. The palace - the estate is restored.
I arrived to the settlement “Red coast“ in the hot and sunny July afternoon and therefore dvortsovo - the park ensemble looked elegant, and fixed an eye the unusual construction. It here one among ordinary rectangular structures therefore attracted to itself a look. Roofs burned under sun beams, everything shone. And this small corner with the lock and park, reminded Spain that gave to the place poetry and submitted soul, admired. All ambitious thoughts left, forcing to be lost in thought and dreams. In a sunny day the traveler in the form of me, admiring beauty of the estate, bypasses it from all directions, eyes are filled with interest, and the smile does not descend from a face. And I already agree to any magic. I admire and cannot admire.
Has a little a rest in a shadow of park from a hot sunny day, enjoying. The park hocused smells of needles and an almost inaudible smell of exotic trees and bushes which remained since that immemorial time.
I wanted to look at a memorial in this settlement therefore having asked how there to reach, took seat on the bicycle and went. In June, 2007 in the Red Coast the memorial complex was open. During World War II there was a children`s concentration camp here. Children were violently taken away from parents and took from them blood for the wounded German soldiers. Few children survived, those who survived were sent to Germany for work. Author of the project of a memorial architect Leonid Levin. On a plate it is written: “To children who had no childhood. To children who will never sit down at school desks. To children who will never draw the happiness. This monument is devoted“.
Before a memorial the girl`s sculpture. It as if symbolizes all died children. The girl raised hands over the head, being protected from all fears of war.
Without tears it is impossible to look at all this. White school desks, black board with the letter of the girl, a white ship, sun beams from the apple orchard - all this reminded horrors of war.
Stands with a mosaic from glass which were manufactured on the boy`s drawings - the prisoner of this camp. They remained at the daughter of this prisoner who lives in Gomel now.
Memory needs to be stored not only in itself. Memorials have to remind that the person that horrors of war did not repeat in the future took out. Being here, words get stuck and only tears, silence and nervousness are those feelings which it is possible to express ruthlessness and immorality of war.
