Why there are accidents? Categories of roads

In spite of the fact that you studied in driving school, you know only two categories of roads - equal (on them you go quickly) and uneven (the causing indignations and vague threats). The reality is slightly more difficult.

In the countries of the former USSR were under construction six categories of roads from which: two - the first (so it was moved), the second, the third, fourth and fifth. For each category the set of parameters including notorious flatness are determined. Not always road builders contain all these roads according to their categories.

Having appeared driving the car, try to define on what road of category you are and to outline a circle of possible dangers.

The both first categories are multiband highways with a wide dividing strip. Moving on them, it is impossible to appear on an oncoming lane or the intersection. The main reason for which you can have an accident - the movement with too big or too small speed. The third, the most dangerous, the category is very often presented by three-lane roads where the midland serves for the movement in passing, in the passer the directions. On roads of the third category crossings with other roads at one level, lack of outcomes are usual.

The fourth category - two-way local roads with the dash dividing line honor it throughout, except dangerous sites.

The fifth category - one-lane roads without dividing line, often without hard coating on which counter travel is possible at the lowered speed. The organization of passenger traffic on such roads is forbidden.

Each category of the road has the rated speed - from 150 km/h on highways of the category Ia to 50 km/h on a primer of the fifth category.

Respectively, and the minimum radius of turns for each category of roads is calculated so that the driver could, adhering to the established speed , it is safe to overcome turn. So, turns on highways have radius from 1200, and in the mountain district - from 250 meters, and the road 5 categories can have the radius 150, and in the mountain district - and 30 meters.

At the same time the radius of each turn has to be invariable throughout turn! In other words, having turned a wheel at the beginning of turn, you will almost not move a wheel, will not leave turn on an equal site of the road yet. If turn was constructed correctly.

But at construction or reconstruction of the road sometimes (more often than it would be desirable) it turns out that turn radius on its extent is not identical. What it leads to?

We will assume, you make the left turn. Having turned a wheel, you slightly relaxed and even added “gazka“. And suddenly it turned out that through 100 - 200 meters the radius of turn decreased! You need to tighten a wheel immediately. But you move with a speed, optimum for bigger radius, and do not manage to dump it! And centrifugal force bears you out of road limits …

Much worse if the same occurs when you make the right turn. Then will take out you on a strip of oncoming traffic.

Try to understand that will occur if the radius of turn suddenly increases.
