And you remember a waltz “An autumn dream“?

the Waltz “The autumn dream“ was popular many decades. Our great-grandmothers and great-grandfathers loved, rejoiced, longed, were at war under his melody. It sounded during balls in pre-revolutionary Russia, then became one of symbols of pre-war and post-war time and entered into repertoire practically of all military orchestras...

... Under this waltz we Went to a circle in the spring afternoon
,
Under this waltz in the native land
we Loved girlfriends.
Under this waltz we caught
of Eyes of darlings light,
Under this waltz longed we, there is no
When the girlfriend.

(Song “In the Wood Front“, sl. M. Isakovsky, muses. M. Blanter, 1943)

Any soldier at the front, having heard a familiar melody, remembered a home, darling and children who remained there it is far from the front, and dreamed to come back home somewhat quicker.

“An autumn dream“ many considered a waltz as the native work written in Russia, but its homeland - in far foggy Albion.

The pianist and the composer Archibald Joyce in 1908 wrote it. He was born in 1873 in London, since the childhood was fond of music, sang in chorus, played the piano, and soon created the musically - dancing collective. After a while he began to write waltzes, very succeeded in this case and even received a secret title of “the king of waltzes“.

Among its popular works there is “Pleasant memories“, “Love dreams“, “Reminiscence“, “Dreams“. Similar works consider as light concert music or “mood music“. Eyewitnesses reported that during fatal collision of “Titanic“ the orchestra played “An autumn waltz“. Archibald Jones also wrote a series of the waltzes devoted to Salome under impression of the play of Oscar Wilde of the same name.

In 1909 it with concerts arrived to Russia then “The autumn dream“ and “Reminiscence“ won popularity at once. In several years of a plate with records left huge circulations, and nobody remembered who the author, called them ancient Russian waltzes. It is interesting that in the Soviet Union a waltz “The autumn dream“ was at popularity peak, and in its England, as well as the author, gradually began to forget. Only with the advent of jazz music there were modern interpretations of classical work, and it received new life.

Attempts to write the text were several times made. The first it was made by the prince F. Kasatkin - the Rostov, devoted verses to baroness Olga Nikolaevna Taube. But they did not find recognition among public. In pre-war years other poets tried to write verses, but Vasily Lebedev`s option - the Red bunting became the most popular. It was executed by Lidiya Ruslanova:

Wind autumn breaks leaves,
All nature of grief is full.
Only hope does not die -
knows Heart: the spring will come.

Both grief, and a bad weather -
Everything as the rain autumn, will pass.
Will be pleasure, there will be happiness,
I the hot sun will ascend!

Fully to you to cry, to you not to collect maples, birches,
of Old leaves.
is full to drop to you large tears,
Day spring will come again.

The Leaf passes fall of separation,
soon green will grow again,
will embrace us lovely hands Again,
Will be pleasure, the love will come.

If on you was rolled by an autumn depression, listen to this waltz and you remember that sooner or later rain will expect to fall, and in the spring there will be a pleasure and the warm sun again.
