Everywhere traces of content and work? The invitation to book travel to the Russian village of

of the Book in a home library by itself are completed in peculiar “families“. On a demand - it is one reason. Another, not less important, - on a subject. One of favourite “families“ - books about the village. It is a little of them, such books which for me represent a cumulative portrait of the Russian village, from hoary antiquity so far.

I read - I re-read - and I see how it is faithful to itself in trifles and in large as does not change, dissecting centuries, the Russian village - country Russia.

I will announce the list - can who that in it and learns. Or will be going to learn.

As it is clear, there were books at different times, in different conditions: one - in full-fledged publishing houses, others - in fact homemade products.

Each of Russian-speaking who considers himself as the civilized person is obliged to know the first book. The book was formed from the sketches - “letters“ published in “Domestic notes“ since 1872 within a decade. The author is the famous Russian chemist Alexander Nikolaevich Engelgardt. It was banished in 1871 in an entail property of Batishchevo (The Smolensk province) and began to manage there - approximately as Nikolay Rostov in the last volume of “War and peace“.

“As you will probably have free time, you could benefit from it …, having represented modern position of landowner and country farms“, - M. E. Saltykov-Shchedrin in the letter of March 31, 1871 offered Engelgardt.

“Modern“ - is about the period of realization of a peasant reform of 1861. Peasants gradually became owners. Landowners so gradually learned to operate agricultural production in new conditions, sometimes grew poor, gave up rural life - and wandered to the cities, in officials.

Whether release of peasants came? And from what to be exempted - from “fortress“ or from the hard work bringing not enough benefit, only livelihood?

“A rain in half with the sun“ - the book of sketches carrying a subtitle “The rural diary“ is written by Efim Dorosh too not in a moment. As well as Engelgardt, Dorosh observed surrounding reality year after year. Having come to the nonchernozem remote place (The Rostov region of the Yaroslavl region) to collect material for a sketch - collected, the sketch wrote, handed over - and returned. Removed housing, got acquaintances in the village and in the regional center.

The sketches which later made the book left in “The new world“. An assessment they received ambiguous. The Supreme party administration appeared discontentedly - name calling, a pier. To tell the truth that you see in the Russian village of the middle 50 - x - the beginnings 60 - x years of the 20th century, - yes, name calling.

As the truth that was unpleasant: the nature did not wish to submit to solutions of party, and the peasants dependent and by nature, and from party, were weighed upon the second dependence as dependence the first natural, agreed with common sense, the second - to this sense contradicted.

Svetlana Martyanova, the author of the book “Azure Dawns“ - my colleague, my teacher. And this book - my the most favourite of all its books. The only thing that does not suit me in “Dawns“, - a subtitle “Stories about the nature and people of work for reading pupils“. As it is rather “letters“, as in the first case. And not “about the nature and people of work“ there the speech. It memories of the difficult and fine childhood. The child`s life without mother is heavy, it is ten times heavier if all know around: you are a daughter of the enemy of the people, your mother - in camp. But children`s heart is sympathetic on kindness and beauty, and that this time is fine.

The book is made of sketches on calendar Christian holidays. The narration is led on behalf of the child - observant and impressionable. And still this book - a monument to mother. Neither the daughter`s childhood, nor the youth which its did not see early of died - from camp returned with tuberculosis.

Two books of Nikolay Leonov are a history of the village of the Village of that Rostov area. Village history, stories about certain persons and about country dynasties made these editions. Each “volume“ left with a circulation only 100 copies - just that to heroes of sketches to give away. Well and to give to library - for descendants.

Made a basis of “Village assembly“ of Nikolay Eflatov documentary - an autobiographical sketch of “Galakhovo“. Galakhovo - the native village of the author who prepared the book for the 75 - to the anniversary. In a sketch the speech - about the childhood which fell on 1940 - e years. About the village, about neighbors - families are described on posads, the house behind the house.

“Notes of the inundated inhabitant“ were for the first time published by Yu. Kublanovsky in “The new world“. Then - in “Our contemporary“. And last year left in Rybinsk completely and the separate book. The author, Pavel Zaytsev, the publisher calls mologzhaniny. Probably, and itself P. Zaytsev so called himself, and his compatriots - residents of that Russia that left on a bottom of the Rybinsk sea. At least, being moved from the otchy earth, are scattered through towns and villages Yaroslavshchina, they lodged and kept together. That there was country paradise in the floodplain of the Mologa and Sheksna Rivers: the quiet nature, the fertile earth, the richest meadows - but inundated inhabitants were expelled by command of party and government from paradise.

Finishes the list the monograph “Russian Village“. It is result of long-term work of research team: the commented records of stories of elderly peasants of different regions of Russia are published. The book represents good work of ethnographers, philologists, historians. Publications not only contain information on people, events, but reproduce, so to speak, the speech of the old men remembering the past.

In general this my book set gives a reliable portrait of the Russian village and the Russian peasant. Neither name calling, nor varnishing: such is it, a basis of bases - the village Russian. A shelter of tranquility, works and inspiration where peyzana and paysannes for nearly one and a half hundred years (if to consider from Pushkin`s “Village“) “burdensome yary to a coffin attract everything“.
