What is a galtel and as to work with her?

the Ceiling plinth, or a galtel as it is called by professional builders, serve in order that close a gap between the upper edge of wall-paper and a ceiling.

Do such plinths of polyfoam or polyurethane 1,3 m long; 1,5 m; 2 m and from 20 to 80 mm wide. They white color, easy and inexpensive.

For example, you painted a ceiling in a hall and pasted wall-paper on walls. Now by means of galtel these two surfaces should be united, having given to the room the finished look. However it is necessary to paste so a ceiling plinth that it turned out exactly and beautifully. We will also tell about it.

Before going to shop behind purchase of ceiling plinths, it is necessary to calculate their quantity. Task this very simple and available to the school student of initial classes. It turns out that the total length of galtel is equal to hall perimeter. Thus, for receiving the required figure it is necessary to divide perimeter into length of one stick. It is better to take two-meter - will be joints less.

We will give concrete an example :

Hall length - 3,5 m, width - 1,7 m. The perimeter is equal (3,5 x 2) + (1,7 x 2) = 10,4 m. The necessary quantity of ceiling plinths will be equal to 10,4: 2 = 5,2 pieces. We round to six, and in shop we buy seven - just in case as when cutting plinths it is always possible to make a mistake.

Upon purchase of a ceiling plinth choose surely from one party. Pressed from granules of polyfoam do not take, it since dries out, and in the place of joints the crack is formed. Reject galtel with defects - crumpled and with scratches.

In passing we buy glue and the tool, necessary for work. We need an assembly knife, a roulette, a plaster tape and the miter box. Without the last adaptation at you it will hardly turn out to cut a plinth under necessary degree for joining in hall corners.

Than to glue a ceiling plinth? For this purpose you will need special glue. On sale is available as far as types of transparent or white polymeric glue. It differs only in the producer and the price. The seller will prompt what glue will approach better.

With what to begin work?

Apply at first one strip of a plinth to a ceiling. Look whether it closes a gap between edge of wall-paper and a ceiling. Estimate an arrangement of plinths from what corner you get to work. However, before beginning gluing, I advise to be trained with cutting of corners of a plinth under 45 . For this purpose also the miter box is necessary.

If at you it is unimportant with spatial imagination, then at once to receive the necessary joint of internal or external corners it will be difficult. For training take scraps of a plinth and at the correct result use them further as a template, having signed with a pencil where the left edge and where right. Cut a plinth in the miter box a fine edge of an assembly knife.

When at you on a floor the joint of an internal corner turned out, it is possible to start gluing of a ceiling plinth. At first paste one piece, and then at an angle 45 to it join the second. A narrow strip is closer to the middle we apply glue on both surfaces galtel. It from them will nestle on a ceiling, another - on a wall. Before gluing, to sustain glue several minutes better - so it will better grab and the plinth should not be pressed long hands. If glue is applied too densely, then its surplus will act from - under a plinth. Delete them with a dry soft rag.

After two plinths in the first corner will be pasted, we pass to the following corner. It is necessary to join them exactly here. Then precisely it will be much simpler to mark and connect two plinths across.

Unfortunately, walls and a ceiling in our apartments seldom happen equal. In places of a curvature the ceiling plinth can come unstuck. Use an adhesive plaster tape here, drive it a plinth into the corner or to a ceiling. Then the tape will easily come unstuck, without having left marks on wall-paper and a ceiling.

It is ideal to calculate length of all plinths and to precisely kill them corners in power only to the professional. If you missed a little, there is no terrible nothing. In places of joining it is easy for crack to close up white silicone sealant or the same glue. For this purpose we squeeze out it on a finger and accurately we cover gaps. If too big cracks were formed, then they can be stopped up with the strips of the same plinth which are cut out and adjusted by the size. It is easily knifed by assembly.

We will give a good advice. As galtel of white color, it is necessary to glue them to a ceiling clean hands not to leave on a surface of dirty spots. And still, be not fond and you do not press strongly on them fingers - there can be dents.
