The Armenian press in Baku the Armenian periodicals has

more than bicentennial history in which all stages of spiritual and public life of Armenians are reflected.

The Armenian periodicals were published almost in all cities of the world where many Armenians including in Baku lived.

One of cultural achievements of Armenians of Baku was creation of the various press and journalism.

From 1877 to 1920 in Baku more than 60 Armenian newspapers and magazines were issued.

The first armyanoyazychny edition in Baku was literaturno - the pedagogical magazine “Armenian World“ (Aikakan ashkhar) founded in Shushi in 1874 which in 1877 - 79 years was published in Baku.

In Baku Armenians published the following periodicals: “Orer“ (Days) (1907), “Aniv“ (Wheel) (1908), “Arev“ (Sun) (1914 - 1919), “Bakvi dzayn“ (Voice of Baku), (1913 - 1914) “Koch Devet“ (Appeal) (1906), “Holes hosk“ (The new word) (1911 - 1912), “Sotsial is the democrat“ (Sotsial is the democrat) (1917), “Banvori hosk“ (The word of the worker) (1918), “Tegekatu“ (Reference book) (1918), etc. Were published also socially - literary editions: “Shepor“ (Pipe) (1908), “Aravot“ (Morning) (1909), “Tatron at erazhshtutyun“ (Theater and music) (1910 - 1917), etc. The Baku newspaper under edition X was issued. A. Vermisheva. Since October, 1908 under Ruben Ogandzhanyan`s edition in Russian also advertizing newspaper “Listok Objyavleny“ was issued. Official newspapers of political trends and the diverse public and political organizations, and also economic, literary, cultural, satirical, religious and other daily, weekly and monthly publications were issued. Despite the existing restrictions, the Armenian journalism of Baku played a huge role in development of national, itellektualny and social thought.
