Glubokovskiye`s brothers. How there were their destinies?

So sometimes happen that in one family you see “different vectors“ of destinies of close relatives. But often this “difference“ seeming: having got accustomed, you notice a big community. Even if one brother - the scientist - the theologian, and the second - the founder of the Science and Life magazine.

This year festive for the magazine respected by many, to it is executed by of 120 years . It were no continuous 120 years, there was a big break, but authors and editors of the magazine feel the continuity with that far 1890. And it is surprising, as in our hard time the magazine “Science and life“ managed to keep all that the best that got for all years of the existence.

Advantages of this magazine are undoubted: a variety of the subjects covering all scientific and pseudo-scientific areas, fascinating and available style of a statement (even in the most complex matters), some publitsistichnost and at the same time high professionalism and validity of a statement of material. As a result the magazine was always of interest almost to all categories of readers: everyone could find something for itself(himself). From mathematics and physics before gardening and truck farming, from psychology to crossword puzzles, chaynvord, puzzles and the mass of curious and entertaining things. Among authors - outstanding scientists with degrees, several academicians. But also talented writers and journalists often pleased readers with the materials.

The whole generations, having subscribed, tried to keep at themselves filings of this magazine. It was interesting to read both in a year, and through ten, despite prompt scientifically - technical progress.

Glubokovsky Matvei Nikanorovich

Founded the Science and Life magazine Glubokovsky Matvei Nikanorovich (was born on October 27, 1857, died on December 11, 1903; sometimes specify by year of death 1904, the probability of a mistake is high here).

Matvei Glubokovsky - from the Vologda province (the village the Kichmengsky Town), from a large family of the priest. A fast orphanhood, it was necessary to get on feet. By family tradition the boy finished the Vologda theological seminary, but then - Moscow, Institute of foreign languages, and then and the Moscow university, medical faculty. It is possible to imagine what it: to study so much, to work and earn additionally, pass military service, to make discoveries and inventions, except scientific works - to go in for journalism and to write a fiction! Both educations, and fields of activity - more than are various.

At the same time - sympathized with revolutionaries (it and count in dictionaries - the revolutionary - the populist), was exposed to secret supervision, treated people free of charge, began new publishing. It also founded in 1890 to all of us the famous magazine now. The purpose was defined at once - promotion and promoting of scientific knowledge, “ without falling into boulevard tone and standing away from any tendentiousness and cheap politics “, mastering new equipment, education and even self-education of people.

Glubokovsky Matvei Nikanorovich died (of typhus and the subsequent consumption) in 1903, having left five children. And also a large number of scientific works and inventions, many of which found the practical embodiment at his life. Several patents, the known works on mineralogy, medicine, and even the book which outstripped the time (and Esperanto) - “World-wide - language of science. Opportunity and method of its creation“. And the magazine which it founded existed exactly 10 years - to Glubokovsky`s illness. And further - a long break to the Sciences and Lives format already known to us.

Such people do not think the categories “career“ or “success“. Such people just live and do the part, without expecting honors, awards, regalia and accounts in banks. Any established post during lifetime - only duties. For example, the doctor on duty at the Moscow theaters, and that voluntarily. Matvei Glubokovsky was called “the clear head, the erudite and the intellectual“, the attendant of science and the idealist, but is even more often - simply the toiler.

Glubokovsky Nikolay Nikanorovich

Glubokovsky Nikolay Nikanorovich (on December 6, 1863 - on March 18, 1937) was born

in the same place, in the Vologda province, in the same family. He was a younger brother of Matvei Nikanorovich and the last child in a family. And here he died already in Bulgaria, in Sofia.

The father died when the child was only 3 years old. The boy lived at relatives, then, as well as the brother, finished the Vologda theological seminary. Reached for the elder brother to Moscow, came to study to the Moscow spiritual academy, but it was deducted. Argued with the administration on the rights of students - offense absolutely inadmissible. Nevertheless, graduated from academy, further taught in the Voronezh theological seminary, in the St. Petersburg spiritual academy (up to its closing in 1918). Taught several years in Stockholm and Belgrade.

Nikolay Glubokovsky participated in preparation of a set of bills (even about divorce “on adultery“) and editions (including - the academic “Dictionary of Russian“, “The orthodox theological encyclopedia“), was the corresponding member of the St. Petersburg academy of Sciences. Wrote for magazines, left a set of works on stories of church.

In 1921 emigrated from Russia. His further life was connected with Bulgaria - and there he taught divinity at the Sofia university, and there became the corresponding member of the Bulgarian academy of Sciences. Its works (“Freedom and need“, “Theosophic society and modern Theosophy“) are known also tsenima in the world. In 2007 in Russia it is published being considered lost “The bible dictionary“ of N. Glubokovsky (typewriting of this work was long stored in Sacredly - Trinity Monastery in the city of Dzhordanvill, the state New - York, and only recently it was transferred “home“)...

It would seem - the whole abyss both in outlook, and in destinies of two brothers. However it is felt that both brothers who were on friendly terms all life (though younger endured the senior more than for 30 years), - from one healthy root. First of all, it is visible on primordial “country diligence“, not for nothing both were called “toilers“. And both brothers a distinctive feature had a surprising passion to knowledge. And, to knowledge of the most various areas, peculiar once to Encyclopaedists. At last, the most important - both of them chose life as service, but not as a styazhaniye.

Glubokovsky Nikolay Nikanorovich, by the way, too was printed in the magazine founded by the brother. And Matvei Nikanorovich was printed, including, in magazines “Orthodox Review“, “Belief and Reason“, “Church bulletin“. Also they did not feel any internal contradictions...

Edition well-known scientifically - the popular edition explained recently that she took “ the responsibility to declare that “The science and life“ is based in Russia in 1890, and we continue the edition which nearly got to oblivion together with his founder - the first editor and the publisher “. As for the second brother - he is better known in the West, and the thorough analysis of his life and activity - business of the future.

It would be very desirable that such people were remembered. Also it would be very desirable that “The science and life“ was read by our children, grandsons and great-grandsons. At least in the electronic version, but it was read surely.
