What do we know about mosquitoes? From mosquitoes at us is...

moisture Call

“Was komarik - a komarishka, there was a mosquito - komarishche“.

(The Russian saying)

Having talked about an unpleasant subject of a krovososaniye, we come back directly to our komarikha, already nasosavsheysya blood. Here it hard rises in air and slowly flies, risking to be killed by the donor. If everything manages, begins the following stage of reproduction - maturing of 150-200 eggs. It should be noted that on this good cause almost all protein of the drunk blood leaves (the komarikha keeps only the baby).

The love to moisture at mosquitoes is not casual - after maturing of eggs the female right there goes to any reservoir (from a pond to a pool) where it is possible to postpone them. From the eggs laid on a water surface worm-shaped larvae which right there cling tails to a film of water hatch and hang the heads down. Through an opening on the end of a tail they also breathe. However, in case of danger of a larva (and even dolls) are capable to make zanyra on the bottom. From the moment of an otkladka of eggs before emergence from a doll of the adult flyer there pass no more than two weeks (under favorable conditions, of course).

Life expectancy of a female in the summer - about 2 - x months (males and that it is less). However somewhere by fall there are females who do not lay some eggs, and actively accumulate fatty stocks for the subsequent wintering which they carry out, having hammered into different cracks and other secluded places. In the spring these females are capable to postpone the first laying without pairing.

Not all mosquito need reservoirs. For example, larvae of tropical mosquitoes adapted to development in any decaying fossils (the truth, on condition of sufficient humidity). White worms that come across to us in the spoiled mushrooms - too larvae of a mosquito, and called - mushroom.

Thanks to larvae - more precisely, to their marvelous behavior, got the nickname and military komarik. Etichervyaki are capable to gather in long “snake“ and to such manners to move on new places. In old times the people who met similar “military“ groups were frightened and considered their emergence as an omen of wars, crop failures and other disasters.

But, probably, the best-known mosquito larva is the larva better known under the name “crank“. These red worms are specially bred as a forage for aquarian small fishes or a bait for fishermen.

One of the smallest mosquito larvae - larvae of a gallitsa - without magnifying glass you will not consider them. Besides they hide in the most different parts of plants - escapes, leaves, flowers. There they emit the special substances forcing plant cells to raise and share. Such - abnormally developed - bodies of plants are called by “Gauls“. It should be noted that each certain type of gallitsa is connected only with a certain species of a plant. Therefore if the female is mistaken in botany, - the larva will die.

Among gallitsa it is possible to note an original form at all - a miastor. He is capable to breed at a stage of a larva. At the same time the ripened kids just gnaw through the mummy from within that, having been released to repeat her fate. Only, when “will be spread around“ in enough, they pupate and after transformation into a winged individual scatter for the purpose of expansion of an area.

the Good attitude to mosquitoes?

“- Means, you love not all insects? - continued indifferently the Mosquito.

- I love those which are able to speak, - Alice answered. - Our insects do not talk.

- And what insect at you rejoice? - asked the Mosquito.

- I any insect do not rejoice because I am afraid of them, - Alice admitted“.

(L. Carroll “Through the Looking-Glass“) “I caught

a mosquito.

That - ra, that is ra, that is ra - ra! Komarishka I love

,

I Rub - lyu - lyushka, I rub - lyu - lyu!“

(N. Nosov of “Dunno`s Adventure“)

Strangely enough, not mosquitoes cause resistant hostility in all. Moreover - the majority of mosquitoes of such hostility simply did not deserve. I will not repeat the argument which is worn out by ecologists about mosquitoes as “an important link of a food chain of natural community“. From bitten by mosquitoes from it it is not easier for anybody. I will tell another - blood-sicking mosquito in the nature, it appears, it is not much.

M. N. Tsurikov: “In our fauna can meet by

representatives of 32 families of mosquitoes from which only inside 4 there are blood-sicking types. Thus, only several types of bloodsuckers brought ill fame to all mosquito kingdom“.

For example, the mosquitoes living on damp meadows and glades - crane flies, despite the frightening look, eat only the vegetable remains and have no relation to malarial mosquitoes (as some think). Mentioned above, producers of a crank - mosquitoes - zvonets (it belongs to them that specific ring which is distributed near reservoirs) - are also absolutely harmless.

Certain cultural workers managed to give a sympathetic and romantic aura even to a usual blood-sicking mosquito. As the unconditional hero among literary mosquitoes “small komarik“ K. Chukovsky, Mukhu who exempted from an angry spider - to Tsokotukh undoubtedly acts (i.e., in fact, one harmful insect rescued other harmful). We will give the second place among celebrities to a mosquito in whom for the secret reconnaissance purposes the prince Gvidon - the hero of “The tale of the tsar Saltan“ of A.S. Pushkin addresses.

Rather romantically and sympathetically our hero, as in V. Vysotsky`s song looks: ( “... The eternal suicide bomber - a mosquito / broke at the nose, / Turning glass front a picture Gave“ ), and in E. Letov`s song ( “A pre-dawn mosquito fell to my fire / and choked with blood from my temple …“ ). To a mosquito we can meet even more touching relation at the same Letov in the following poem:

“The mosquito as an angel

Over a sleepless prostynyoyu of

Over a confused pillow

the Ruined bed

I flew by pierced

Plunged

Was forgotten by

Laughed

In the center

In the thick

In heaven of my palm

As if Scarlet Flower

As if a nail

Uninvited“.

In as! Further - it is more. I found out that tiresome buzz of a mosquito is capable to cause in some poets pleasant, and even nostalgic - patriotic feelings - whether it be Jew Mandelstam, the Ryazan man Yesenin or the nobleman Nabokov.

O. Mandelstam:

“... I do not know with what time

This song began, - whether

on it rustles the thief,

Mosquito rings the prince?“

“Is sorry for me that now winter

I of mosquitoes it is not heard in the house …“

S. Yesenin:

“I like to Listen over the mowing parking

in the evening to a buzzing of mosquitoes …“

V. Nabokov: “The turning blue steam is

above the earth.

of the Kidney of lindens lit up the avenue;

and with a ridiculous song the first mosquito

to me tickles persistently a neck...

And melancholy for other, it is juicy - black spring -

inspired reminiscence -

ah what melancholy! - mosquito this hum awakens in me

... “

“... and so to Russia suddenly will pull,

will drench all soul nauseous heat, -

especially when the mosquito

over an ear sings, in silent

evening hour.“

Truly and a mosquito - “our everything“.

Joke:

In a campaign:

- Faugh - ooh... The private, you took something from mosquitoes?

- Yes sir, companion sergeant! From mosquitoes I took all best - the speed, dexterity, courage, persistence!
