What is gypsum cardboard? Only 10 years ago nobody knew

about gypsum cardboard. Being engaged in apartment renovation, we used only plaster and plaster. And now all amicably are surprised: how it was possible to do without such miracle how gypsum cardboard? By means of gypsum cardboard it is possible to create also multilevel ceilings with illumination, and partitions, cunning in a form, with different regiments, niches, openings. With its help it is possible to achieve what in language of designers and architects is called the beautiful words interior diversity and architectural superexpressiveness .

Gypsum cardboard represents the composite material released in the form of rectangular sheets. Length of these sheets from 2 to 4. 8 m, width - 0. 6 or 1. 2 m. At the same time the producer can do parties of gypsum plasterboards (HL) and the non-standard sizes to order. Thickness of HL varies ranging from 6 to 24 mm.

A basis of a gypsum plasterboard is as it is easy to guess, plaster. In order that the core from plaster had all necessary density, durability, etc., enter the special additives increasing the HL operational properties into it. Outside the HL is pasted over with a construction cardboard which carries out a role of power external fittings. In addition the cardboard is a good basis for putting paint or plaster, a sticker of a tile or wall-paper.

Hygienic properties of gypsum cardboard well are suitable for living rooms since it is ecologically pure and does not contain dangerous substances. HL possess good sound-proof properties, they is nonflammable and are fire-resistant. The important fact is also that " gypsum cardboard; breathes - absorbs moisture at its surplus and gives it if air very dry. It is very important for premises. Well and, at last, gypsum cardboard has the same acidity, as acidity of human skin.

Except usual gypsum plasterboards (HL) also the sheets having special characteristics are issued: fire-resistant (GKLO) and waterproof (GKLV).

GKLO become covered by the structure which is not allowing to burn to a cardboard. They are applied to finishing of kitchens (near furnaces), air ducts, communication cable mines, etc.

of V GKLV enter the substances preventing reproduction of fungi. Use them for finishing of kitchens, bathrooms, saunas.

Except HL there are also so-called tongue-and-groove plates. They are done of the burned plaster. After heat treatment durability increases, and plates can be used as interroom partitions. As well as the HL, plates can be pasted over without preparation with wall-paper, be painted or revetted with a tile.

Plates happen one - two - and three-layer. In such plates there are through cavities which reduce the weight of a plate and allow to lay in a wire partition, heating or water pipes.

As for builders, gypsum cardboard first of all is pleasant to them because are excluded wet processes. Plus to it, increases labor productivity and time is saved.

If it is honest, then for me was news to learn that gypsum cardboard not such and revolutionary material. Now only the new round of use of this technology begins. When there was fashionable an European-quality repair with its ultrahigh requirements, there was the next birth of this building material. It was found out that sheets can give any form: dome coverings, arches, columns, curve surfaces - all this can be made only by means of gypsum cardboard.

With gypsum cardboard fastening everything is simple. When finishing walls of HL special construction adhesive on a plaster basis (it often call mastic) or a framework - an obreshetka can be applied. When HL are mounted by means of a framework, they fasten screws - self-tapping screws. The framework is beaten to a wall by expansion bolt shields.

The framework can be both from wooden whetstones 20 - 30 mm thick, and from the metal profiles which are specially let out for such works. In either case the framework fastens on the preliminary precisely counted marking.

Before using a gypsum plasterboard, it is humidified and carefully bent. After the leaf will dry (being recorded), it will take the necessary form. Sheets fix so that between them there was a gap of 4 in size - 5 mm for further finishing of seams.

After installation of plasterboard facing between HL and a wall there is a space - about 20 - 25 mm. It gives additional thermal insulation of the room.

The plasterboard technology is simple. Even unlicensed teams of builders will be able to make installation of a plasterboard wall or partition. However you should consider that complexity during the work with HL consists in final finishing. The profile is more difficult, the it is more difficult to achieve exact interface of sides. Joints become ideally equal only after careful work of the plasterer.
