The Cinderella who wanted strange, or Portraits of fresh flowers (a picture E. Bilokur)
... It was possible to draw only on Sundays, and that only if all work is made . It did canvases, brushes and paints: brushes from a bristle and wool, paints - from herbs and flowers. For the right to paint pictures she had to fight all life and against the whole world. all (and her family) considered by
In the godforsaken village drawing - inaction, troubles. The Soviet power demanded from it glorification of a collective-farm system. And she wrote - flowers...
It allowed to draw every day, only when she decided to commit suicide. the Relation to it “ to a malevanye “ changed only when capital art critics and galleries began to chase its works, and Pablo Picasso who saw them told “ If we had such artist - about her would tell the whole world “. The fact that there was no close soul added it weight - rural customs were heavy and rough, and the female share was drawn not in talk and writing of pictures there at all.
Here such here Cinderella in a home, only the Cinderella dreamed of clear, female happiness : a beautiful dress, balls and the prince - and Katerina Bilokur about Strange : to paint pictures. Nobody in the village understood it, and generally they were not so guilty - from the hammered country life they stepped in the cruel Iron Age of the Soviet power with its golodomor, registrations, a surplus-appropriation system, then war... What here pictures what art - is simple to survive, and not everyone managed that.
A of a shower - asked arts, the hand reached for a brush, and flowers asked: write us! She drew on walls, on self-woven canvases if she very much carries - on paper.
Everything was against it. And what helped? Fine nature of Ukraine? National songs and embroideries? Otherworldly forces to which it contacted soul? Not killed talent?
... Katerina Bilokur was born in the village of Bogdanovka of the Poltava province (now Kiev region), in extremely poor family, passed the childhood and youth in heavy physical work, in hunger and need... times - one is heavier than another. Parents and fellows villager, hardened in poverty and darkness, considered drawing as a whim. The capable girl herself learned to read, but for this reason in a family the decision was made it was necessary not to continue its education and too much work daily to remake on the house, in the field, in a kitchen garden. Lack of elementary school education in the future prevented arrival of the talented artist already in art special educational institutions in Myrgorod and Kiev. All life Katerina studied itself and mastered art skills itself, with some help of the rural teacher, and also icon painter from the neighboring village. That her talent is more amazing and beauty and skill of works of the artist are more surprising by that.
Katya early began to draw - at first pieces of coal, secretly from disapproval of relatives, on cloth pieces (sometimes the house taken without demand in a chest). Then - on pieces of a cardboard and paper. Worked at night and late at night, at the end of the unlucky day full of house and economic efforts. Subsequently the artist herself weaved a cloth and did brushes of cat`s hairs for the pictures, and sometimes and itself did paints of berries, bark and other natural materials.
Popularity came to the artist interestingly. Tell that once on a visit Katya heard the song “ Chi I in luz_ not a guelder-rose the bull? “ performed by Oksana Petrusenko and, shaken by impression, decided to send to the singer the letter, having enclosed in an envelope small drawing with the image of a guelder-rose on a cloth piece. The singer was surprised with drawing and told about the talented girl in the Center of folk art. As a result the head artly - methodical council of the regional House of folk art arrived to Bogdanovka and took away several works Bilokur to show to artists in Kiev.
Became interested in works in Pavlo Tychin`s . Katerina`s creativity caused huge interest, learned about the artist, trips and exhibitions - for example, a personal exhibition in Poltava in 1941 began. Unfortunately, many works presented at this exhibition died during war in the fire. After war the artist continued to work, and in 1954 three of her pictures (“ The Tsar - an ear “ “ Birch “ and “ Kolgospne field “) got on the international exhibition in Paris. Then Pablo Picasso`s , struck with talent Bilokur, told: “ If we had an artist of such level, we would force the whole world to speak about it “.
Art critics argue - whether creativity of Ekaterina Bilokur to folk art or to professional painting belongs. But all researchers meet that its works are full of high philosophical sense, deep judgment of life. Her pictures of an osiyana her extraordinary coloring, are recovered by her thinnest skill and are perceived as the velichalny anthem to the nature and the person.
Before beginning work, the artist long considered a plan, studied nature and the thinnest nuances of lighting. She did not do sketches, and painted pictures on one breath . The last, touch-ups it did by the thinnest brush literally of several hairs. Details carefully are also written authentically out, a picturesque layer transparent, pictures as if shine. Flower images appear at us in all juicy beauty, filled a terrestrial natural power of growth and maturing, they exist in harmonious unity of a trembling kingdom of the Nature in all its perfection.
In 50 - e years it became easier for Katerina to live: it was recognized, works were exposed in the museums and on expositions, and even here Picasso was delighted by them... She could paint pictures and to read books! But its health worsened, after war she left the house a little. In the village there was no place to be treated, and to go to the city it had no opportunity: it was necessary “ doglyadata “ the old woman - mother. In 1961 the artist did not become.
The great glory came posthumously - called by her name the street in Kiev, delivered it three monuments, there are albums of her pictures. About it put movies and write ballets. In the State museum of arts of Ukraine in Kiev there is a big hall of Ekaterina Bilokur. Are published by the separate book even of her letter - and in these letters the huge literary talent opened... What cruel and derisive piece this life.
Katerina never picked flowers - she wanted to write them live, not cut off. Think of it, considering her pictures - it is portraits of fresh flowers.
