How the world recognized Van Gogh?

the Well-known museum of Van Gogh since opening in 1973 gained great world popularity. Within the last 33 years millions of tourists from around the world visited the museum. The pictures exposed in the museum, drawings and photos give an opportunity to watch formation of works of the great artist step by step. Besides, in the museum there are more than 700 letters written by the artist personally to the brother Teo. However history of formation of this collection and what it had to pass through, is very surprising.

Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in Holland, in a family of the pastor of the Dutch Protestant church.

Whom only he was not in the life. It worked also in the company which is engaged in sale of objects of art, both the teacher, and the parson, and, at last, the artist.

The great Dutch painter in the life traveled much. London where it was sent to work was one of the first cities which was visited by Van Gogh. Vincent was just fascinated by England. Living here, he visited a set of art galleries and museums. It very much liked engravings of the English masters, they inspired him and exerted impact on his further creativity.

Having returned to Holland two years later, for Christmas, he preferred to remain there. Here he becomes parson for coal miners and their families in the miner`s village of Vasmes. Vincent was attached to miners, he sympathized with them in their hard work and as the spiritual mentor, tried to facilitate their difficult life very much. Vincent began to give the most part of the food and clothes to the most suffering wards. Such act was not approved by church, and Van Gogh was ousted, but remained to live in that village in full poverty.

Once Vincent wanted to visit the house of the French artist Jules Breton loved by it, and, having only 10 francs in a pocket, it passed on foot all 70 kilometers to Kourryeres (France) to see Breton. However on arrival Vincent did not decide to knock to the artist at a door and, suppressed, came back home.

It was that time when Vincent began to draw miners and their families, imprinting awful conditions in which they lived, and that time when Vincent Van Gogh at last understood the calling - to be an artist.

Having spent year in poverty, Vincent goes to Brussels to begin to be trained in painting. His brother Teo helped it with money. Vincent and Teo were always close in the childhood, and, being already adult, all life conducted continuous correspondence. Their letters are also stored in Van Gogh`s museum now.

Vincent Van Gogh got acquainted with the common-law wife Klasina Maria Hurnik at the end of February, 1882 in the Hague. At that time it carried under heart of the second child. Soon this woman better known as Xing, moved to Vincent. They lived together the next one and a half years. Letters to Teo show that Vincent was attached to Cyn, and especially to her children, but art always was on the first place for it. Xing and her children posed for tens of works of Vincent, and for this period he considerably grew up as the artist. In the picture Xing sitting on a basket with the girl Vincent skillfully gave a silent family cosiness.

In 1883 Van Gogh began to experiment with oil paints. Soon he leaves Cyn. Vincent endures the personal tragedy alone. The next six weeks Van Gogh led the wandering life, moving on the area and drawing landscapes and portraits of locals.

Later, having returned to the parental house, it continues to be improved in drawing. During this period he paints pictures in tens. Generally it is portraits of spinners and weavers. But most of all Vincent liked to draw local peasants.

Soon the artist moves to Paris where he gets acquainted with impressionism. Vincent for two next years becomes the neighbor of the brother Teo who lived at that time in Paris too.

Thanks to Teo, Vincent meets the beginning Parisian artists. Vincent attended early exhibitions of impressionists where Degas, Mone, Renoir, Pissarro`s works were exposed. There are no doubts that rendered methods of impressionists on Van Gogh`s creativity, but he always remained is faithful to the unique style. Drawing vicinities of Paris, he departs in the palette from dark, traditional flowers of the Dutch homeland and begins to use the trembling paints of impressionists.

In Paris Vincent began to show interest in art of Japan. The Japanese art, just after centuries of solitary life, began to extend across Europe, and the Western world was crazy about it. Van Gogh began to get a significant amount of the Japanese engravings on a tree, and its works during this period (for example, Portrait of Daddy of Tanga ) are, as well as under impressionistic, and under the Japanese influence. The Japanese influence will be traced in his creativity throughout all life.

Van Gogh, having been tired of long gloomy winter months of Paris, moves to Arles. He looks for the sun and heat in Provence, but does not find. Soon it has the first attack of a mental disorder. It, being in a condition of madness, cut off the lower part of the left ear then it was placed in hospital in Arles. Later attacks of a sincere illness even more often torment the artist. During the following attack it was presented to it as if he was poisoned.

Van Gogh spends long time in hospital where to it allow to come to the nature and to draw. It was the productive period in Van Gogh`s life. It represents the blossoming gardens in vicinities of Arles.

Then Vincent gets on treatment to psychiatric clinic in Seong - Remy - - Provence.

Here it is observed by doctor Peyron who proclaims the diagnosis - the patient is sick with one of kinds of epilepsy. This diagnosis at the moment also is official.

Rather quiet condition of sincere health, however, lasted not for long, and in the middle of July Van Gogh has one more attack. This time he tried to swallow own paints, and as a result to him closed access to materials. In a week, however, doctor Peyron was softened and allowed Vincent to resume drawing. As soon as he began to create again, its mental state improved.

Teo helped to organize exhibitions of his pictures, in particular, he organized an exhibition in Brussels. Vincent was inspired by this event both much and worked hard.

After the next attack of a sincere illness Van Gogh devastated by torments does not draw itself any more, and is engaged in copying of works of other artists.

On July 27, 1890, Vincent Van Gogh took an easel and material for drawing, and went to the field. There it pulled out the revolver and shot to itself(himself) at a breast. Reeling, he reached board and went to bed where he was found by the owner who called doctors Mazeri and Gashe. To Teo the urgent letter was sent, and he arrived the next morning.

Teo held the brother by a hand when that pronounced the last words: I would like to leave here so . Vincent Van Gogh died at night on July 29, 1890. A funeral took place in Mary`s settlement on July 30. Teo Van Gogh endured the brother of all for half a year. He was buried in Utrekh, but in 1914 Teo, Joann`s wife, the hot fan of works of Van Gogh, reburied Teo`s body near Vincent on a cemetery in Overe. Joanna asked that between graves put an ivy branch from doctor Gashe`s garden. This ivy carpets Vincent and Teo`s graves to this day.

So left that during lifetime of a picture of the artist were not popular, and he died practically in poverty. But that Van Gogh became famous we are obliged to the same Joanna.

After Van Gogh`s death his brother Teo set the firm object that the whole world recognized the great artist. All his house was full of works of the creator, them there were more than two hundred. Teo agreed with people, arranged art exhibitions. But, unfortunately, Teo died, without having achieved the dream. And here relay was picked up by his wife, Joanna. Other relatives of the artist at the same time with relief sighed. They did not show interest in pictures, and were glad to refuse them in favor of Joanna and her juvenile son Vincent.

At that time more than two hundred works of the artist almost cost nothing. Joanna tried to obtain the organization of art exhibitions of the artist, she achieved the publication of his letters thanks to which people had an opportunity to learn more about this person. Joanna possessed surprising strength of mind, ready to cross through any barriers to achieve the objective.

By the time of her death, in 1925, Van Gogh was already the most popular artist. However her son who inherited a collection of pictures did not test from this special enthusiasm and did not want to make a name on the uncle`s celebrity, - he became an engineer.

In 1950 there was an idea of creation of the special museum of pictures of Van Gogh. The state redeems from the successor a collection of pictures of the artist in 1962, and in 1969 it is placed in the museum of Van Gogh which officially was open on June 2, 1973.
