How to create a seamless background by means of Photoshop?
Theoretically a background for the website or the blog can be made of any picture. However the background distinguishes ability of the first to exactly pave the provided space so that joints were not noticeable from the picture. By the way, especially it is important for those who use 3DMax and periodically look for textures.
So how to make of any pleasant drawing to itself a seamless background? For a start we find the necessary image, attentively we examine it and we try to estimate its complexity.
by In drawing represented large objects. The more the subject, the will be more difficult to work with it!
it is A lot of accurate lines. In this case roughnesses on joints are very noticeable therefore it complicates work too.
by distributed lighting Unevenly. If the opposite sides have different brightness, then this transition will be swept very up even in case edges in itself pictures approach to each other.
we Open the picture in Photoshop`e (I have a CS4 version). Attention! Further I will give instructions in English and Russian (for the original and Russified versions), however the translation can not coincide with what you have - it depends on the version of a Russifier! We click the Image/Mode menu (Image / Mode) and we are convinced that we have a tick opposite of of RGB color (RGB color) . If is not present, we put it.
For the works I chose here such picture (fig. 1, above). As we see, it is quite abstract and - thank God! - it is evenly lit. However on it the large objects having very accurate lines are represented. And how your picture looks? If at it one edge is more dark opposite, then it is necessary to begin with lighting. Lighting can be corrected in several ways.
First way. we Choose of Filter/Render/Lights Effects (Filters / Lighting / Effects of lighting) (fig. 2). Further control are individual and depend only on your drawing. Twist an ovalchik at the left, pull a romper suit. Council: if edges of the picture turn out dark (there is not enough light), and at extension of an oval the center turns out too bright, increase value of the Focus parameter (Focus) . We look at my example (fig. 3).
Second way. If have some light (dark) places or change is insignificant, then we can use brushes from a toolbar - of Dodge or of Burn ( Clarification or Blackout ). Council: the brush for such works has to be rather soft: we reduce the Rigidity (Hardness) parameter . The Exposure parameter (Exposition) is responsible for intensity, it you can regulate for smooth transitions of light.
Now when the image is evenly lit, we go of Filter/Other/Offset (the Filter / Others / Shift) and we choose the option Wrap around (to Rotate around , in some versions - to Wrap up ).
We put values of both romper suit approximately (accuracy is insignificant) half images (for example, I have an initial picture with a resolution of 400x300 pixels, so I expose values 200 across and 150 down). So, now our seams exactly in the middle of (fig. 1, below). Our task - to make them as less as possible noticeable.
We scale the image and we take the Clone Stamp tool ( a cloning Stamp ). Now work creative. We clamp the ALT key and we click a mouse on that piece which we want to clone. We release a key and we begin to retouch area necessary to us. Pay attention that the area of a stamp (that which you designated by means of the ALT key) will move behind the cursor until you release the mouse button.
By the way if your picture does not contain any geometrical figures and in general it is rather uniform, it is possible to try other way . We open the initial image (before shift of seams) and we add to textures of Edit/Define Pattern (Editing / to Set texture). Now again we shift seams (Offset) and we take the Pattern Stamp tool (A textural stamp) . Do not mix with other stamp! In the top panelka we choose the texture which is just made by us. Now the molniyeobrazny movements we paint over our joints. If it turns out badly and inaccurately, then this way does not suit you!
I retouched the picture by means of an ordinary stamp, on small pieces adding the necessary elements and erasing unnecessary elements by means of an ordinary brush of black color. Look at the increased image fragment before retouching and later (fig. 4).
When our seamless background will be ready, we add it to textures (as I described earlier). We create the new document in Photoshop, we put to it the size much more our picture, further we go of Layer/New fill layer/Pattern (A layer / New filling layer / Texture) and we choose our new texture. We watch what turned out!
If you tried to make as I recommended, but at you something did not turn out - be not upset! There is a plug-in for Photoshop under the name Tiler which can be found and downloaded easily in the Network. With its help for one click of a mouse it is possible to make everything that we tried to make!
Only it is not necessary to pronounce now all words which occurred to you! This plug-in is not ideal therefore will be suitable only for pictures of fogs, clouds, wool and other similar things. Look what will turn out if to apply it to my drawing (fig. 5)! However, at me it is more beautiful?
