Houses on trees - back, to the nature? History of the dwelling
was easier for Robinson Crusoe. He suited a huge warehouse of all kinds of things on the desert island. At construction “ wild “ housing the great pragmatist made use of experience of all mankind. In the age of Enlightenment when Defoe`s novel was written, it was important to prove that the person educated even in the most severe conditions can start from scratch and will survive if applies the gained knowledge intelligently.
First of all Danijel Defoe`s hero thought how to secure himself against savages if they appear on the island, and from animals if they are found there. Robinson Crusoe at first wanted to dig out a cave - following the first step of mankind in construction of individual housing, but then changed the mind. In the hill on which slope he set up the tent, already spoiled “ education fruits “ the person of the 17th century built a cellar. And, of course, the European built a fence around the housing. From top to bottom filled intervals between stakes with scraps of the ropes taken from the ship, from within strengthened a fencing props from boards.
Well and if the person has near at hand only a bush and trees, and construction tools in the form of the chiansaw, an electroplane and just ordinary knife are not constructed yet, without speaking about nails? In such conditions of the person rescued not so much hands how many a leg. By means of toes our ancestors perfectly clung to branches, arranging dwellings - nests.
Primitive people built platforms of the branches bound on a tree. These rods were covered with small branches and dry leaves, sometimes with the arch from the branches of the same tree connected between themselves. The room at height rescued from attack from land predators.
In the same place where the dense wood did not grow, but bushes expanded, the house with use obliquely of the put wattle fence from branches which is propped up by a stick was constructed. By means of such semi-barrier - a semi-canopy of people took cover from wind and made fire.
Once to someone from our ancestors the thought came to fasten four direct panels of a wattle fence, having made in one opening for pass. Judging from the fact that according to this scheme of the woman sewed clothes from skins - leaving cuts for the head and hands, we dare to assume that the ordinary dressmaker could be the first prehistoric architect.
Inventors from other tribes thought up the way of shelter: to bend one long panel of a wattle fence in a form of a standing wall with round or oval cross section. Such “ Cauchy “ meet in the mountains of the Caucasus. Still shepherds use similar constructions as shelters, but is frequent also for protection of fires.
For giving of bigger impermeability against wind and a rain unknown builders began to cover a wattle fence with natural building material - clay to they for which giving of durability added straw and a cow dung.
Resourceful mind of the person went further. To secure fragile shelters against sudden attack, houses began to have on columns, over water. Pile constructions were so invented. Drove a number of piles into shoal, on top connected them a flooring from logs and poles. On it established huts. The settlement connected to the land to a planked footway, removable on an attack case from the land.
Robinson used a removable entrance to the dwelling too. Remember how the seaman put all the things in a fencing and tightly closed up an entrance, and providently cleaned a ladder inside. Thereby Defoe`s hero made use of experience of ancient builders and did not feel lonely even on the desert island - with it there was an experience of mankind!
Hi from the past
Thumbing through magazines on modern architecture, I came across on “ houses - trees “. It turned out that not only Robinson estimated experience of our ancestors, but also designers. Unlike the possessor of the whole island, very many contemporaries huddle on the small sites which are not allowing to build huge country houses and to fence them “ palings “. In the world there were demanded original constructions which are not demanding the big land plots. So began to be created “ bird`s nests “ structures “ and - la nature “ growing not in breadth, and up.
A lodge under the name “ Fortress - a nutlet “ it is constructed on the nut tree growing on a neighbour`s site. Neighbors could agree: they use the room as the general cultural space. Here adults, children in dolls play cards, and in case of arrival of guests the nest serves as hotel. The dwelling built in Dusseldorf made for amicable neighbors profit not only on housing commissioning, but also on advertizing of an original structure.
And is still “ the house - a capsule “. The explanatory dictionary reports, it is a capsule - “ the part of the space aircraft intended for descent and landing to Earth or other celestial body “. The house remained for me a riddle: most likely, it is created not for mere mortals!
House of the fisherman the most traditional: it is possible to catch fish directly from a verandah. In a lodge there live three brothers. They play sports, listen to music to the full extent and meet girls, inviting them to fish.
The termination - here.
