Whether it is possible to learn to think in English?

Ya I claim that the language thinking does not exist. Nobody thinks in language, be it native or foreign. The thinking is carried out images and thought forms (concepts).

It is necessary to make mental action over image or a thought form for implementation of the act of thinking (further - an image), namely:

1. To change an image - to introduce nonexistent quantitative, qualitative, object and other characteristics in this image.

2. To create an image (function of imagination).

3. To move an image(s) or their characteristics (qualities and properties) in space, time and/or relatively each other.

4. To classify towards the image - representation or to individualize from an image - representation.

5. To establish prichinno - investigative communications in images.

6. To see and/or understand an image (function of sense organs and attention).

7. Any combination from the above-mentioned.

All these actions are peculiar not only to the person, but also all live world in a varying degree.

However language allows to call all this . What, in turn, facilitates and accelerates thinking. Though in this respect there are never-ending disputes.

So, the only thing that language allows us - it is to call images and cogitative operations which we with them carry out. Nominative, or nominative, function of language is the most important and the most energy-intensive. Formation of an image - representation demands repeated perception of similar images and allocation of their similar characteristics. At the person this process is followed by imposing of the word the native language on an image that in itself accelerates classification of images. However in the course of thinking the word should not participate. If the word begins to take part in cogitative activity, then this participation it is possible to consider as zombiing it.

It is no secret that the most part of our actions and thoughts proceed under control of a so-called dynamic stereotype. So we save our resources - power and temporary. It is reasonable from the point of view of an organism to which danger does not threaten: if this behavior allows to survive and to feel not bad, so everything precisely so has to go further. Here the dynamic stereotype both in actions, and in thinking reigns.

Every day the majority does, thinks and tells same until there is a comfortable balance of lives. For service of such life there are set expressions and phrases for various situations. Knowing them and having learned to combine a little, we can live all life, feeling absolutely comfortably in communication. The vast majority aspires to it, starting studying of English... But stumbles and falls, without having reached the treasured purpose.

It occurs from - for lack of the most important factor - real repeating the life situation demanding from you the speech act (to hear, understand and tell). Those educational situations which were studied at English lessons were never endured and experienced. About formation of a dynamic speech stereotype in this situation out of the question. However let`s think whether it is necessary to us? Whether we need to be contrary to requirements of our organism, trying to force it to carry out unfairly energy-intensive activities for formation of stable reflex nominative relations between images and words of English which will never be used?

The question is wrong. You will not be able to achieve real progress, being contrary to the requirements dictated by the human nature. It is necessary to be on friendly terms with himself, but not to force. It is necessary to include English in thought process and daily activity on a constant basis. Compare the relations with the learned language with the matrimonial relations - they need to be developed and supported all life.

Let`s look how it can be made at the level of passive (hearing and reading) and active (speaking and the letter) uses of English in the conditions of lack of the language environment.

In the beginning learn to separate thought from the word . Try to feel thought. In most cases it will also be the standard situations which caused it and demanding the speech act. Make a pause and mentally speak your phrase in English and only then aloud in Russian. Will seem from outside that you the slow, judicious person weighing each word. If you slowed down and do not know how to tell this phrase in English, make a mental note and surely translate the phrase after a speech situation.

Such practice demands self-discipline at the beginning. But in several days or weeks (depending on your level of proficiency in language) you will get used and this practice will become part of your speech activity. This exercise needs to be carried out every day before accumulation of 7 mental notes, but not less than one hour of speech activity.

Refuse at least for a year television, the Internet and books in Russian. Only English has to surround you when it is only possible. Listen to audiobooks in transport, you watch news, movies and series, walk on the Internet, participate in forums, read books etc. You will see in a year that English became simple for understanding. Give at least two hours every day on it.

Try to do mental notes (at most four) at this activity and to translate unclear phrases on the termination. Phrases - always try to hear an unknown word together with another: adjective with the defined noun, a verb with a noun, an adverb with a verb. So they will be remembered quicker and in the necessary context.

During the work with a mental note it is important to remember it first of all. If it was not remembered - nothing terrible, next time. Further, you need to say correctly aloud the phrase, representing its value, to see an unknown word on the mental screen and to write down it, spelling aloud this word. Then once again to say all phrase, representing its value and, perhaps, a situation in which you can use it.

Start going to club of English for colloquial practice or to the tutor. The main thing that you had a practice of informal conversation in a real, but not educational situation. Just you speak on the subjects interesting you, prepare reports, participate in discussions. At least once a week for two hours.

All this can begin to be done already through 10 classes in statement of phonetics, having studied the alphabet and basic grammatical structures. On average on it from 20 to 50 hours of individual occupations with the tutor are required.

So, it is not necessary to set a task to learn to think in a foreign language. Just it is important to be able to think. And tools for expression of your thoughts in any language, and in particular, in English, it is possible to seize quickly enough in the presence of real motivation and at understanding of that as well as in what volume it can be made without violence over itself.
