To reorganization - 25 years. It became better to live?

passed Quarter of the century since the beginning of the Gorbachev reorganization which came to the end with disintegration of the Soviet Union. What did it give to the younger generation which grew since then? (We will not speak about old here, with it and so everything is clear.)

For comparison we will take two characters: the young engineer of the middle 80 - x and the manager of 2010 - go. According to the status they are approximately equal, both are unmarried, recently graduated from the institutes. The first, for example, works at plant or in scientific research institute, the second - the head of the lower link on private firm.

We will compare them on clear all categories. The first of them -

the Salary

the Salary of the young specialist in the Soviet Union depended on a set of factors, namely: places of work, an extra charge for harm and an experience, awards quarter and annual. On average, for the engineer who graduated from higher education institution few years ago about 150 rubles a month turned out. It is a lot of or a little, it will become clear on the course of our story.

In order to avoid unnecessary disagreements and disputes for the manager we take a salary in 30 thousand rubles.

the Highest chic for young people of the Soviet era was to wear clothes import. At the same time its style did not matter at all. Not the foreign brand (then the word “brand“ was practically not known), and the country of production was important. To get foreign clothes (pay attention: not to buy, namely to get) it was difficult, and it was necessary to overpay for it. Those who had jeans a sheepskin coat (Italian were only at directors of large shops, partboss and movie stars), import boots, a suit and “grandfather“ of a present man purse under the sonorous name “diplomat““, were considered as fashionably dressed.

Let`s estimate how many our engineer should have worked to buy something from this set:

• Rifle jeans (150 rub) - 1 month.

• Winter boots import (about 300 rub) - 2 - 3 months.

• A sheepskin coat (from 500 rub) - 4 months.

Everything that was considered prestigious quarter of the century back, today`s middle class does not consider as that. Now the clothes have to show purchasing power of her owner. Therefore at all very famous various a top - brands.

the Housing problem in Soviet period was particularly acute also, but from a different angle. The housing provided the state free of charge, but it was necessary to stand in a queue for it decades. The truth and it was necessary to pay real kopeks for the apartment and light. “To build“ the cooperative apartment cost very much (from 6 - 7 thousand rubles) and it was even more difficult to be included in the list of “co-operators“. Therefore our young engineer, most likely, lived with parents.

Now it is theoretically possible to buy the apartment, but actually for the young specialist it is absolutely too expensive. Nevertheless, options of separate independent life are available: the housing can be removed without effort, and having pulled the socks up, to take a mortgage.

Possession of own car did the Car to

the young engineer by very considerable figure. The question of its brand then did not stand - either “Zaporozhets“ or “Muscovite“ and if very much carries - “Zhiguli“. But the engineer had no chances to buy the car. In - the first, it cost 40 monthly salaries (VAZ “three“), in - the second, on cars during the Soviet period of turn were more, than on apartments.

To buy own car for the current manager not a problem. The choice is huge and the credits give practically to all. The car - the important element of the status, the majority getting wish to have more abruptly, than at the neighbor.

By the way if to consider by quantity of monthly salaries, then the modern analog of VAZ “three“ will be “A4 Audi“. Let`s estimate: We divide 1 million 200 thousand rubles (its price) on 30 thousand (salary) and we get the same time penal in 40 months for accumulation of the necessary sum.

Entertainingly it turned out: “Zhiguli - 1985 contra A4 Audi - 2010“.

the Question of food in Soviet period was ambiguous. On the one hand, products in shops, it seems, were and that is obvious, more natural and for reasonable price. On the other hand, the choice was not any, and delicacies always were in deficiency. A limit of dream of the Soviet person - “a sausage rain“ with 40 types of this its favourite food. I will give a joke of those times. Ask the American tourist: “When you have the very first strawberry?“ “At 6 o`clock in the morning“. Its sense did not reach many and it was necessary to explain.

Nevertheless, restaurants were hammered to the full in the evening, and in 1985 it was more difficult for simple engineer to get there, than to pay the restaurant bill.

In our years the dream of “a sausage rain“ was realized, but it was a nightmare. It appears, meat in sausage is replaced with soy and add it there that better and not to list. At the same time there was a choice problem. For only in shop “Amateur“ it is simpler to wait in line.

In 2010 the manager does not have problems to be gone with the girl in any cafe or restaurant, but its finance does not allow to do it often.

the Show off

to the Engineer, except the car and fashionable clothes, could make impression, having shown, for example, the two-cassette tape Japanese tape recorder. However, and it was not so simple to get it. For the National radio tape recorder (900 rub) the engineer should have worked half a year. And about the videorecorder in general you should not speak. Be not surprised, in the middle of 80 - x years import “video recorder“ could be exchanged for the car.

Today it is possible to show off beautifully, having shown the mobile phone is more expensive, for example “iPhon“. With hours it is a little more difficult. Too dear it is too expensive for our manager. And by eye very few people are capable to estimate them. And cult objects of the Soviet era - tape recorders, TVs and the video equipment do not surprise anybody today any more.

We made attempt, having looked back to quarter of the century back, to present, how far, living in modern Russia, left the inhabitant of the Soviet Union forward. Than today`s man 25 - ti differs years from the peer of a sample of 1985 - go years.

Having read article up to the end, everyone can define for itself(himself) during what era he would like to live. Strangely enough, nostalgia on the Soviet way of life does not disappear …
