How it is correct to clean footwear?
my Grandmother with ecstasy watched the soap opera “Wild Rose“ how the poor girl (but with restive character) left from the village to the city. And nothing it is plainly skillful except how to clean footwear. Start was good.
Recently Valentina Katayeva “A sacred well“, the final of the description of travel strange there across America re-read. The author went there in a vague burdensome presentiment that will deceive him, the unknown man will outrage upon it certain else to it. It appeared, presentiments did not deceive - the cleaner of footwear substandardly performed the work, but charged a double fee from the writer.
Also it would be possible to wave a hand, it is trifles! Well who, tell on favor, will suffer from dust on your footwear? And here remember the movie “Moscow Does Not Trust Tears“. What Alentova and Batalov`s acquaintance began with? We often are silent that we actually notice.
In my childhood the footwear to all members of household was cleaned always by the head of the family, and I perceived it quite natural as “the gold standard“. To me was it is sensitive unpleasantly that my husbands did not clean my shoes, but I understood that they “were not employed“. The first husband was just a maniac in questions of purity of shoes and carried in a tsellofanchik a porous sponge - a napkin for rubbing. The second, at all his attentiveness to clothes, struck with absolute ignorance in questions of care of boots: could take the soft brush intended for finishing polishing and, having spat on it (oh, horror!) to clean it dirty footwear! The present spouse more svedushch, but sometimes gives in to laziness and simply “paints over“ splashes after a rain a sponge with shoe-polish.
It led me to thought, as truly not everyone is able to clean footwear correctly. I will not describe procedure in hotels of London where, according to tourists, clean your footwear best of all on light. I simply do not know these procedures. I will tell how it was done by the grandfather who also taught me.
Every Saturday we collected all footwear which used for a week, and bore on kitchen. Just the kitchen at us was in the end of the corridor conducting from an entrance door. In kitchen we put footwear on the outspread newspapers and sorted by color. Damp (but not wet) wiped with a rag a surface from dust, fine drops of rain. If dirt got stuck in a corrugated sole, around heels, then carefully washed over a sink in a bathroom, trying that the stream did not get on skin.
Then the grandfather got a box with creams and brushes. Generally it were metal round flat tins of shoe Kiwi cream, and I very much liked its smell. There were also tubes of black and colourless shoe-polish, brown - in shades: beige, it is red - brown, is yellow - brown, dark chocolate... Whole scale!
To everyone (!) to cream the small brush with the handle and big, soft - for polishing was applied. “Worm“ of cream was applied on a small brush and this brush (over the newspaper) smeared a boot, accurate with, evenly, thin layer. Boots were put aside that cream was absorbed.
Then when all footwear was “napastovana“, the polishing turn came. Soft brushes, not strongly pressing, the swing movements at shoes directed a luster! Heels should not have been forgotten too! What is called - feel a difference!
For suede we had separate brushes too - from a synthetic firm bristle for removal of splashes and combing. And soft, natural - to sweep away dust. Now I use a special rubber brush and a porous firm sponge, they can be bought in shoe shops upon purchase of footwear. Occasionally nevertheless it is necessary to use also a damp sponge, but I try not to abuse!
Except a competent shoe-polish, it is important how you store it! If so it happened that you had wet feet, then at once as soon as you came home, fill boots (or boots) newspapers and put to dry near the battery (but it is not too close to it, differently skin will crack). Newspapers should be changed few times in an evening. For the winter buy special water-repellent wax and miss the mark with it all leather footwear - it then and it will be easier to clean, and salt not so will damage to boots.
Try to store footwear in boxes - will longer serve. If boxes were lost or tore, a natolkayta in footwear socks brown paper (or the newspaper), wrap up fabric, put in a cellophane paper bag and you store either under a case, or on a case, try to put nothing over footwear.
Every time, stacking footwear after socks and cleanings back in a box, I remember words of the grandfather: “Take care of a thing once - and she will take care of you ten times!“
