We publish material about design of large town-planning educations in the Slovak capital of Bratislava. Scope of the begun construction speaks about inclusion of the city which endured post-socialist crisis in number of actively developing European capitals. The stream of the investments which rushed in the center of Bratislava was already compared to a tsunami. Rough reaction to such radical intervention in heart of this small European capital lying in the geometrical center of Europe is natural. Statements of the famous developers, famous architects, indignation of patriots of the city - enemies “ glass boxes “ - and rough delights of their opponents in an anticipation of wonderful changes - all this rushed a whirlwind of opinions in the press, the Internet, in debating clubs and just on the street quite recently. And it is clear - building will affect both coast of Danube, will change key panoramic images, in fact - the person of the city. The motto of a grandiose action called transformation “ the cities at the river “ to the city “ on the river “. In September, 2005 the press reported about acceptance city vlastyami1 the relevant decisions, and almost at the same time developer companies declared spring of 2006 year of the beginning of construction two the largest of the planned objects (RIVER PARK and EUROVEA).
The beginning of construction of the large coastal RIVER PARK complex - spring of 2006. The author of the project Eric van Egeraat entered “ large dabs “ this object in an embankment panorama. Many disputes cause placement of a complex in the territory of a recreation park though the site of the future of RIVER PARKa is almost free now. Interests of the builder extend to all PKO - there are plans to modernize the existing buildings, to revive park. The requirement of the city authorities - the maximum care at inclusion of a complex in the developed city silhouette: the spurs of the Carpathians, rich panoramas of the old city running to the river and a strong dominant - a Bratislava Hail. Creating new socially significant object, the author undertook the original course: in order to avoid the possible conflict of skyscrapers with the Hail put forward one of volumes over the Danube waters, it is effective “ having laid “ complex dominant. Building represents set of objects plastically superfluous and simple - most glazed that, according to the author, has to help to avoid feeling of massiveness, a heap, to leave the place to air. Reconstruction and expansion of the embankment of a walking esplanade is provided. In RIVER PARKe on the area of 43 000 sq.m will take place five-stars hotel of Kempinski on 200 numbers, 340 apartments of the class “ luxury “ 28 000 sq.m of high quality offices, cafe, restaurants, shops, fitnestsentr, bank and other services for inhabitants and visitors. Offices are turned towards the noisy highway, housing - to the river. Under the earth parkings and boxes for loading of the enterprises of service are hidden.
To the east from RIVER PARKa, is closer to the center in more remote prospect it is planned to realize not less important " project; Zuckermandel “ (“ Almonds in " sugar;) - according to the ancient name of this place which is Podgradiya`s part - territories already “ samy most “ on importance in an organism of the coastal zone located between the Hail and the embankment. Historical building on this tidbit of the city center with the confectionery name, however, as well as on other parts of Podgradiya, was managed to be demolished in socialist times, clearing the place for projects which did not manage to embody completely. The certificate of that time simply - angular decisions - three panel towers with almost “ hrushchobny “ interiors, intruded in a city panorama.
Opinions of experts and the public diametrically dispersed when there was a question of development of almost abandoned territory under the Hail. Society of citizens` initiative fights to the bitter end on a position of a reconstruction of the destroyed historical environment. According to adherents of this point of view, the quote from the past would give the chance to the Old city it is frictionless to leave to Danube. Authors recreate a river sleeve, having a little changed its location, and two new islands. The created urbanistic structure will become a link for the parts of the city located on opposite coast. At the same time visual connections with the existing and perspective building - mainly with the Hail and the EUROVEA center on the left side are considered; the characteristic image of the right coast - alternation of natural massifs with building blocks is kept (unlike the opposite side where in the 18th century the quarter building, traditional for embankments of Europe, continued in the EUROVEA and RIVER PARK projects was created). Reserve zones for routes of the subway and the tram, corridors for laying of engineering networks are put. The main cross axis of a zone coincides with the line of future subway. It begins the international hotel on the new island, proceeds the area with station of the subway, then “ passes “ highway wide pedestrian bridge. An axis three 24 - floor inhabited support towers. Low objects develop perpendicular to the Danube Current, using appeal of new islands and creating a zone of contact of the person with the river. The line of building from the highway is formed 10 - floor office buildings. Now the project is discussed by experts and the public.
