As Moscow carried out an annual action “ Day without " car;?on September 22 in one and a half thousand cities it was carried out " worldwide; Day without " car;. For the first time he was marked out in 1974 in Switzerland. Due to the fuel crisis of the power which arose then in this country urged citizens to refuse for 4 days trips on the cars.
Also other countries followed the example of Swisses. Now the main goal of this annual action - to improve an ecological situation on our planet. Now in Europe nearly every second motorist considers a duty by all means to support this action, having taken in it part.
Moscow in this September environment supported “ Day without " cars; for the third time. Former two attempts to persuade residents of the capital at least for days to refuse an individual transport failed: traffic jams those days were observed more dense, than in usual.
As the press wrote then, many of the Moscow motorists tortured by traffic jams fondly counted that others will leave the cars at home, and they will rush off on the to affairs on empty streets.
Now it is possible to sum up some results of the third attempt of carrying out in Moscow “ Day without " cars;.
This time the Moscow authorities tried to convince owners of an individual transport to take part in an action in the different ways. In particular, fare in land public transport twice was lowered on September 22. Counting on consciousness at least parts of motorists, Mosgortrans released on city routes this day additional buses, trolleybuses and trams.
In the stock “ Moscow without " cars; it was possible to participate differently. The first and most effective way - to go to work as public transport. Why effective? The matter is that refusal of use of privately owned vehicles, at least for days, will significantly purify air which we breathe, of harmful exhaust gases. It is the indisputable fact, and here are not necessary what scientific proofs.
So, in Moscow there are 3,6 million registered cars on 15 million inhabitants. They consume in 5 times more of energy, than all public transport of the capital. The bus, big on dimensions, nevertheless, takes on the carriageway less places, than one hundred sedans and hechbek with one driver inside.
A way second - to replace the favourite car for one day with bicycle. However Moscow differs from many European cities in lack of special paths and weather conditions for driving the bicycle not always favorable. In particular, on September 22 in Moscow the whole day poured a rain. And in general, the bicycle, of course, cannot be considered as alternative to the privately owned vehicle, it is rather a symbol of the carried-out action.
At last, the third way - those who this day could not refuse trips could show understanding and solidarity, having fastened on the antenna of the car a green ribbon - an action symbol. Among them there was also your obedient servant.
What I saw this day on city streets, standing idle in the traffic jams which became traditional - any green ribbon. It is visible, as well as last time each of us again fondly thought that many will leave the cars at home and at last it will be possible to pass freely on the Moscow streets. In vain. Consciousness of our citizens is still far to the European level.
And how many useful it would be possible to make for the money saved by residents of the capital due to refusal of the car for only one day. The sum that runs considerable.
If the gasoline consumption on automobile transport in the city makes per day about 11 tons, then having increased it by average retail price of 31,5 thousand rubles for ton, we receive 346 million rubles.
As it would be possible to dispose of this sum:
- To construct school, kindergarten or shopping center.
- to Buy 30 thousand bicycles.
- to Shoot a quite good feature film.
- to Launch the missile of an easy class in space.
And it is possible just to lay out a pile from 5 - ti thousand banknotes 7 meters high. Whether only it will help purity of our air?
