Where Genghis Khan`s grave? On September 15, 2000 the Beijing mass media reportedabout sensational opening: the Chinese archeologists found a grave of the legendary military leader and founder of the Mongolian empire Genghis Khan.
Several centuries the place of a final resting place of Genghis Khan was object of searches and disputes of scientists and treasure-hunters of the whole world. But if the Mongolian experts and the people consider that the grave of their great ancestor is somewhere in the mountain district from the Uhlan in the north - Batora (on a legend he was buried on the mountain Burkhan - Haldun), then their Chinese colleagues assure that burial is revealed them near Mongol - the Chinese border at the bottom of Altai Mountains in the territory of China.
Genghis Khan died in 1227 during a campaign on the country of Tanguts of Xi - Xia. There are several versions of his death. On one of them, during oblavny hunting for wild horses the horse of the commander something was frightened and jumped aside aside, and the khan fell to the ground. After that the old emperor felt badly. His military leaders wanted to interrupt a campaign and to come back home, but Genghis Khan insisted on his continuation. And even before the death he demanded that the fact of his death was carefully suppressed to a final victory over Tanguts. According to other versions, the khan died from wound by an arrow (so wrote Marco Polo) and even from a lightning stroke (this version other traveler Plano Karpini adhered). And on a widespread Mongolian legend, Genghis Khan died of the wound put Tangut hanshy, the beauty Kyur - beldishin - hatun which spent the only marriage night with Genghis Khan. It was specially sent by the Tangut tsar Shidurkho - Hagan differing in cunning and insidiousness. On this legend, the beauty bit the khan in a neck, having damaged a carotid, and that bled to death.
Anyway, all scientists agree in opinion that the death of the khan occurred in 1227 and was not natural.
Genghis Khan in a field surrounding died. The head of the hugest of the states of the world occupying 4/5 Old World, the master of half a billion souls, the owner of infinite riches it for the rest of the natural avoided luxury and excesses. After conquest of Central Asia his military leaders got fine Turkish chain armors and Damask blades, but Genghis Khan in spite of the fact that was a passionate fan of the weapon, essentially did not follow their example and remained is indifferent to Muslim luxury. He continued to wear clothes of the nomad, adhered to ancient customs and bequeathed to the people not to change these customs in order to avoid the corrupting influence on customs of the Chinese and Muslim cultures.
His military leaders did everything possible to allow ashes and soul of the lord to enjoy eternity at ideal rest. The place of its burial was kept the most strict secret. The grave was trampled down, leveling with the earth, more than one thousand horses. In the course of a funeral 2000 people took part. All of them at once upon termination of a ceremony were chopped up on pieces of 800 horse security guards from army of the khan. But also these 800 soldiers lived no more days: they were executed soon to keep the place of burial in secret. Then special patrols which killed all who were found in nearby lands were sent.
In 1990 after collapse of the USSR - the great friend of the Mongolian people - to Mongolia jambs the American and Japanese expeditions on searches of a grave of Genghis Khan directed. The only condition from the Mongolian government for archeologists was - not to disturb ashes of their great ancestor. Expeditions spent millions of dollars for search of this burial, but their efforts were vain.
At Chinese is, besides purely scientific, and political interest: Beijing thus wants to show once again to the neighbor who is the real leader in this region.
However, did not do also without contradictions. In 1950 in China the mausoleum where, according to the same Chinese, ashes of great Genghis Khan which were allegedly found in the northern Province of Qinghai are stored is built. But professor Chan Hou is the head of the historical museum in Urumqi and one of openers of burial of Genghis Khan - assures that the ashes which are stored in the Chinese mausoleum cannot belong to the khan.
Now it is necessary only to expect results of scientific examination. If this burial really conceals in itself ashes and Genghis Khan`s treasures, then such find can be considered as the greatest opening of the II millennium.
